LATROBE, Pa. — President Donald Trump is urging Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf to fully reopen restaurants throughout the state.
“They can open up slowly, but they have to start, they have to start. It’s very unfair to people, and it’s very unfair to the employees when they lose their jobs. It’s very, very unfair. They have to open up,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with Channel 11 after his campaign stop Thursday night in Latrobe.
Gov. Tom Wolf is acting like a “king” and is trampling their rights under the state constitution, two Pennsylvania couples are claiming in a newly filed federal lawsuit, the latest legal challenge to the governor’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
And they claim the governor’s face mask wearing mandate has become a form of political expression that is being illegally imposed on Pennsylvanians.
A motorist drove through a crowd of protesters in New York’s Times Square on Thursday, according to videos posted to social media.
Hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters gathered in the rain at the tourist hotspot Thursday night. A video of the incident shows some people on bicycles in front of a black Ford Taurus before the driver accelerates. The bicyclists appeared to try to prevent the car from moving forward.
WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE
The car stops and then speeds away.
It was not clear if anyone was injured, but at least one bike could be seen flying up into the air. People could be heard screaming and cursing in the video.
The New York Police Department tweeted the car was not an NYPD vehicle after protesters and some on social media speculated it could be, because of the bull bars in front, a feature among police cruisers.
The department said no complainants have reported the incident with authorities. It asked anyone who was injured to come forward.

The home improvement retailer officially announced plans to open at the Hollywood Squares shopping plaza off Route 22 with a target date of next May . At 55,000 square feet, it will be one of the chain’s largest stores among its locations throughout Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia.
“The Delmont (Salem) location is a great fit for us in terms of demographics and geography,” CEO Joe Kallen said. “It’s a high-visibility location and easily accessible on the Route 22 corridor. The building itself is an ideal fit for us, since there aren’t too many big-box structures in the area.”

In an announcement on Wednesday evening, NATO member Lithuania said U.S. troops will be moved from Poland for pre-planned military exercises. These are “defensive in nature and not directed against any neighbor, including Belarus”, it added.
However, the troops are arriving earlier and staying longer than the government had indicated before the outbreak of protests in Belarus over the Aug. 9 election that returned President Alexander Lukashenko, a key ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, to power.
Lukashenko has denied accusations by the Belarus opposition and Western countries that the vote was rigged and has resisted protesters’ demands to step down. He has accused NATO of a military buildup near Belarus’ borders, something the alliance denied, and has said he will ask for Russian military help if needed.

LATROBE, Pa. (KDKA) — President Donald Trump’s visit to Latrobe puts this region’s second-largest county in the spotlight.
There are very good reasons why Westmoreland County is getting this special attention. In 2016, Trump carried Westmoreland County with 64 percent of the vote, a 57,000 vote margin over Hillary Clinton.
This year, local Republicans think Pres. Trump can do even better.
“Westmoreland County is a huge hotspot of support for him in Pennsylvania,” says Bill Bretz, chair of the Westmoreland Republican Party. “It’s going to be key for carrying the state for him, and he recognizes the significance of our area.”
Westmoreland Republicans are aiming high this year.
“Seventy percent is his goal,” says Sean Kertes, a Republican and chair of the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners.

“Where do the teaching and the learning take place,” said board member Sala Udin.
Board member Terry Kennedy asked administrators how students will be able to submit the hardcopy assignments without access to a device.
As we all spend more time in our homes — and maybe thinking about how to spruce up the place — a new furniture company is planning to make a debut in the Pittsburgh market.
Loves Furniture and Mattresses, a Michigan-based company that launched early this year, plans to open its first Pittsburgh-area store soon in a former Levin Furniture location near The Mall at Robinson.
It also plans to open locations in McMurray and Mount Pleasant but hadn’t released opening dates yet.
Loves had been watching the turmoil in the furniture market as Art Van Furniture decided to close its stores and terminate its employees during bankruptcy proceedings. Art Van had acquired a century-old mainstay in the region, Levin Furniture, in 2017. After several months of trying to reacquire his family’s company, Robert Levin said in June that he would reopen 17 of the 33 stores he sold to Art Van back in 2017.
KDKA Radio has a long and storied history in the 100 years since it was founded in 1920, which will be honored Thu., Sept. 3 at the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s annual Golden Quill Awards. KDKA Radio will receive a Service to Journalism award for its contributions to the profession.
But the radio station is also under fire this week, as once again Wendy Bell, one of its most public-facing radio hosts, has made comments enraging many Pittsburghers.
“My easy solution for the park rangers, and hopefully snipers who are hopefully going to be watching for this, is to shoot on sight. [Shooting noise] Shoot. Done,” said Bell, about protesters targeting Mount Rushmore during a June 26 episode of her radio show. “No more messing with monuments. You wanna mess with a monument? Done.”
Bell is no stranger to controversy, as she has repeatedly come under fire for comments made during her KDKA Radio show. But this week, the clip of her suggesting that park rangers shoot people protesting monuments went viral, and many Pittsburghers on social media criticized Bell. The opposition against her was so strong that KDKA-TV, which is not affiliated with the radio station, issued a statement reminding people that Bell doesn’t work for the station, as many people were complaining about her to KDKA-TV. (KDKA Radio is owned by Entercom, while KDKA-TV owned by VIacomCBS.)

There is no cash on the staged blackjack tables inside the Westmoreland Mall, but there is potentially money on the line in the form of a job.
Dealer training classes, through Westmoreland County Community College, are now taking place in the hopes of hiring dozens of dealers for the new Live! Casino Pittsburgh being built in the mall. Casino officials said more than 100 dealers need to be hired to run the 30 table games that will be operating when the casino opens later this year.
“You’re looking for personalities,” general manager and Executive Vice President and Sean Sullivan said. “You’re looking for the ability to make guests have a good time and enjoy themselves.”
The training class provides a glimpse into what things could look like when the casino opens. Each student and staff member goes through a thermal temperature scan, masks are mandatory and plexiglass is set up on and around gaming tables.
“We’re really creating an environment that is going to be safe for our staff and our guests,” Sullivan said.

“I think this is my 28th rally. So I do support him. And I usually try to be in the front row, so yeah I love him,” said Rick Frazier, another President Donald Trump supporter.
