Michigan furniture company plans to make debut in Pittsburgh

As we all spend more time in our homes — and maybe thinking about how to spruce up the place — a new furniture company is planning to make a debut in the Pittsburgh market.

Loves Furniture and Mattresses, a Michigan-based company that launched early this year, plans to open its first Pittsburgh-area store soon in a former Levin Furniture location near The Mall at Robinson.

It also plans to open locations in McMurray and Mount Pleasant but hadn’t released opening dates yet.

Loves had been watching the turmoil in the furniture market as Art Van Furniture decided to close its stores and terminate its employees during bankruptcy proceedings. Art Van had acquired a century-old mainstay in the region, Levin Furniture, in 2017. After several months of trying to reacquire his family’s company, Robert Levin said in June that he would reopen 17 of the 33 stores he sold to Art Van back in 2017.
