A DUI traffic stop on I-95 in Henrico County early Saturday, May 22, netted 5 pounds of crack cocaine and 25 pounds of marijuana
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A state trooper netted a massive cache of drugs when he pulled over a drunk driver along Interstate 95 in Henrico County early Saturday morning, according to Virginia State Police.
Trooper J. Rivera stopped a car he clocked at 94 mph in a 65 mph zone on I-95 north near the exit for Chamberlayne Avenue, state police officials posted on Facebook.
When the trooper pulled over the driver around 1 a.m., he found 5 pounds of crack cocaine and 25 pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Troopers said 36-year-old Sohail Farooque of Chester was arrested on DUI and illegal drug charges.
“A suspected white supremacist is facing charges after allegedly ditching a bullet-riddled car containing three dead men in the parking lot of an Albuquerque hospital this week,” The Daily Beast reported Saturday. “Richard Kuykendall, a 41-year-old with an “apparent association” with the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang, was charged Friday with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition for his role in the Wednesday triple homicide, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for New Mexico.”
“Prosecutors allege that after a deadly shootout in a nearby alley, Kuykendall drove to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital with the victims, removed his shirt and told a security officer ‘that there were three dead guys in the Chevy’ before he walked away,” The Beast reported. “The criminal complaint—first obtained by Seamus Hughes, a researcher at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism and a Daily Beast contributor—notes that authorities only believe Kuykendall ‘may be responsible for the death of one of the three men.'”
(CNN)A man who police believe shot three people — killing one — on Tuesday is in custody, police said.
The shooting happened in a manager’s office on an upper level of a Stop & Shop groceryin the community of West Hempstead, New York. A couple hundred people were inside the store, police said.

Gabriel DeWitt Wilson is someone “we believe is the shooter,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said before Wilson was taken into custody.
“He left the scene, and he was witnessed still carrying the handgun,” Ryder told reporters.
A grandmother went inside a Reseda, California apartment Saturday morning and found her three young grandchildren had been stabbed to death, Los Angeles police said. A few hours later, the mother of the children was arrested as the primary suspect in the killings after she allegedly carjacked a vehicle and traveled more than four hours away–north of Bakersfield, California..
The gruesome discovery was made Saturday around 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time in the 8000 block of Reseda Boulevard, Sgt. David Bambrick of the LAPD’s West Valley Division said.
A Johnstown man is accused of assaulting a woman in Westmont on Thursday, robbing her of her $800 cellphone and stealing her SUV, then leading police on a chase through the city.
West Hills Regional police charged William Eugene Huddleston, 32, of the 1000 block of Boyd Avenue, with aggravated assault, robbery, strangulation, theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license.
According to a criminal complaint, Huddleston was with the woman at a home in the 900 block of Bucknell Avenue when he became angry because she would not give him a ride. Huddleston allegedly strangled her, stole her cellphone and keys and drove off in her 2012 Kia Sorento.
The woman was taken by Hilltop EMS to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center on Franklin Street.
PITTSBURGH — Two people were arrested after an incident involving several police jurisdictions after a police cruiser that was hit on Thursday.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that two people were in custody after an incident on Woodstock Avenue in Swissvale. They were taken into custody in Braddock after bailing from the vehicle.
Pittsburgh City Police confirm the incident initially began after a the suspect’s vehicle made minor contact with a Zone 6 officer’s vehicle at the intersection of Glen Mawr and Hunt streets.
Twitter users were quick to point out the euphemism in a CNN tweet that referred to an alleged murder as an “accident.”
“Police said the girls, 13 and 15, assaulted an Uber Eats driver with a Taser while carjacking him, which led to an accident in which he was fatally injured,” CNN wrote in the tweet.
In a car jacking attempt, two young teenage girls fought an Uber Eats delivery driver, leaving 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar, dead as he was flung from the vehicle.
The teens are each charged with felony murder and armed carjacking and are being held in custody pending their next court date on March 31.
A 22 year-old man armed with multiple guns was arrested on Wednesday in Atlanta after a shopper overheard him loading weapons in a grocery store bathroom.
Charles Russell was entering the restroom in a Publix supermarket when he heard “clicking sounds” coming from a bathroom stall, according to a police incident report. Then he saw an AR-15-style rifle leaning against the wall.
Russell, who works as a shopper for the grocery delivery service Instacart, rushed to alert Publix staff, who then called security. Soon after, an Atlanta Police officer arrived at the store and arrested Rico Marley, who was found with six loaded firearms, including four handguns, an AR-15-style rifle and a shotgun.
Marley was also wearing body armor, according to the report.
While police have not yet said why Marley brought the weapons into the store, Russell said seeing the rifle put him on edge following the mass shooting days earlier at a Boulder, Colo., grocery store that left 10 people dead. That attack took place less than a week after a series of shootings killed eight people, including six Asian women, at Atlanta-area spas.
Multiple people were killed Monday when a gunman opened fire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, and officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Many of the details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Police Commander Kerry Yamaguchi did not say how many people were killed in the shooting, noting that officials are still processing the crime scene, but said one of the victims is a Boulder police officer.
Yamaguchi said the person of interest was injured and is being treated at the hospital. Helicopter footage from CBS Denver captured authorities escorting a shirtless man in handcuffs who appeared to have a bleeding leg from the scene, but Yamaguchi would not confirm if that man is the person of interest. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as several loud bangs went off in the grocery store. One man said that he first thought someone had dropped something inside the store — but by the third shot, he said, everyone started running.
A Monessen man was arrested Saturday in Rostraver after state police said they found him in possession of a gun and drugs, according to court papers.
Rashawn Ford, 25, is charged with drug possession, weapons violations and other offenses.
State police said they pulled over a car with an expired registration that was headed north on the Vance DeiCas Memorial Highway in Rostraver at 5 p.m. While talking to the driver, identified by police as Ford, troopers noticed numerous empty prescription pill bottles lying on the floor of the car, according to court papers.
Investigators in court papers referenced recent violence and drug activity in the Monessen and Donora area as a factor in the decision to ask him to step out of the vehicle. Troopers said they found 50 bricks of suspected heroin and a loaded pistol in Ford’s pants. Three more bricks and three bundles of drugs were seized from his jacket pocket, according to court papers.
More than half a ton of marijuana with a street value upwards of $8 million was discovered by a sharp-nosed police dog during a routine traffic stop in northwest Indiana.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, when an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a van for a moving violation near the town of Lowell, Indiana, about 50 miles southeast of Chicago, according to a statement released by the Indiana State Police.
The officer approached the vehicle with police to speak with the driver — later named as 31-year-old Christopher S. Colburn from McKinleyville, California — which subsequently led to an investigation of the exterior of the vehicle, including a canine sniff, that caused the officer to ask about what was inside the van.“
During that search, troopers discovered 38 large boxes and 6 black garbage bags.,” said the Indiana State Police. “The boxes were wrapped in black plastic wrap. Inside the boxes contained a total of 1,264 individually sealed bags, each weighing approximately 1.5 lbs., and contained a green plant material. A field test of the content revealed it to be marijuana.”
ALTOONA, Pa. — The U.S. Marshals Service and the Altoona Police Department arrested a man wanted in connection with shooting and killing an IUP student last fall.
Police said they found out Terrion Gates was in the Altoona area and he was taken into custody Friday without incident.
Gates was wanted for shooting and killing 20-year-old Jayden Wright of Pittsburgh in the parking lot of the Carriage House Apartments on Oakland Avenue in October. Wright was taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Gates was one of four suspects police were searching for in connection with the murder. He was extradited to Indiana County for arraignment.
Police say several people have been taken into custody at a hotel on Banksville Road after a report of an abduction.
Officials are on the scene of the Days Inn hotel on Wednesday. At one point, there were multiple police units, including SWAT in the parking lot.
Law enforcement says a call came in around 2:55 p.m. about a kidnapping in progress on Bausman Street, about 10 minutes away from the hotel. Not too long after, police said they located a vehicle that fit the description at the Days Inn.
“The call was for an adult female who had been kidnapped by two adult actors,” Pittsburgh police spokesperson Chris Togneri said.
Police say multiple suspects had rented out several rooms in the Days Inn and Comfort Inn and Suites hotels on Banksville Road.
GREENSBURG, Pa. — A 20-year-old Turtle Creek man was arrested and faces multiple drug and escape charges after police said he left a trail of cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia while running from officers in Greensburg,
According to our partners at TribLive.com, John Stenhouse was arrested in an alley behind a home in the 600 block of South Main Street. Police from Greensburg, South Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg boroughs chased him on foot, and during the pursuit, officers saw Stenhouse drop 13 plastic baggies of cocaine, crack, marijuana and about a “brick” of heroin, 50 stamp bags.
Officers had to shock Stenhouse with a Taser to get him under control.
LOWER YODER TWP, Pa. (WJAC) — Police say a Johnstown man has been charged with reckless endangerment after firing a gun at a vehicle near several homes.
According to the West Hills Regional Police Department, officers were called Friday to the 100 block of Norton Road after neighbors reported hearing a gunshot.
The neighbors reported that 31-year-old Randy Spicher was inside the home and intoxicated, according to police.
Police say they announced more than 30 times for the home to be evacuated and for Spicher to come to the front door with his hands in the air.
Spicher is being lodged in the Cambria County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail.
A Colorado police officer was fired Thursday following investigations into an excessive use of force incident in which he punched a suspect multiple times in the ribs and shocked him five times with a Taser before giving any verbal commands.
Aurora police Officer Robert Rosen responded Aug. 10 to a King Soopers supermarket, where another officer requested assistance in arresting a man on trespassing charges, according to a statement from the department. The man was on the ground on his stomach with his arms underneath him, according to police and body camera video worn by the officer who was trying to initially arrest him.
Rosen arrived to the scene and immediately started punching the man in the ribs before saying anything, the body camera video showed. He then deployed his Taser five times, for a total of 27 seconds within two minutes, according to police.
The suspect suffered minor injuries.
“During the arrest Officer Rosen never attempted any lesser means of force nor did he make any attempts to deescalate the situation in accordance with Aurora Police training,” the department said in the statement.
Investigations into the incident found Rosen did not activate his body camera during the arrest and “failed to document his justifications for each use of force that he used during the arrest,” police said.
A Greensburg woman pulled over early Tuesday for driving erratically during a snow storm without functioning headlights was later arrested by city police and charged with illegal possession of crack cocaine and heroin.
Sarah K. Walters, 28, also was charged with child endangerment because, police say, she had two young children, ages 3 and 5, in her van who were not secured in child safety seats and left a third child, 8, at her apartment unsupervised during the trip.
Patrolman Henry Fontana Jr. said the incident began at 12:41 a.m. on the 700 block of Highland Avenue when he noticed Walters’s van with improperly working headlights having trouble navigating the snow-covered road. He pulled her over in the Nature’s Way parking lot, according to police reports.
Fontana said, when he questioned Walters, he saw two children not properly secured in child safety seats and discovered Walters in possession of suspected crack cocaine, heroin and devices to ingest the drugs.
“Through investigation, it was determined that Walters left a third child, an 8-years-old girl, at home and unattended as she drove to a Greensburg residence to purchase crack cocaine and heroin,” Fontana wrote in court documents.
A Somerset County man wanted on a warrant was arrested over the weekend and now has drug charges pending following a drug bust in Friedens, Somerset County District Attorney Jeff Thomas said.
Thomas said investigators went to 33-year-old Albert Marody’s home after people in the area started reporting “strange activity” at all hours of the night, including brief after-midnight visitors.
Police went to the Friedens home to serve Marody with a warrant, and discovered two ounces of methamphetamine and two pounds of marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia, Thomas said.
Marody was taken into custody and now has additional charges pending related to the drugs found at his residence.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There is new information about an early morning break-in that left several box cars on a train burglarized of high-priced televisions.
After a high-speed chase and fleeing suspects, Memphis Police said they made several arrests.
Newly released documents detailed what investigators said happened when they said 9 people broke into train cars that were sitting along tracks on EH Crump Blvd. in south Memphis, allegedly making off with dozens of televisions worth between $60,000 and $250,000, according to charging documents and a Memphis Police Department spokesperson.
According to Somerset County District Attorney Jeff Thomas, a fugitive was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a drug bust in Friedens. Thomas says a large amount of methamphetamine and marijuana were seized from the residence. The identity of the fugitive has not yet been released. Both the Somerset County Drug Task Force and Somerset County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the bust.
PITTSBURGH — In 2019, media reports out of Chicago said the FBI was looking for an alleged drug trafficker as one of their “Most Wanted”. Randall Langston, 25, was arrested at an apartment complex in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park neighborhood.
According to court documents, agents with a state narcotics task force, involving members of several local police departments, used a criminal informant to buy 50 bricks of heroin from a man who went by the name “Chicago.” The operation was set up to take place at the Highland House Towers apartment complex.
On Friday afternoon, police set up a perimeter around the complex as the informant texted “Chicago” that he was parked at the rear of the building. “Chicago” messaged back that he was on his way down. A short time later, the informant confirmed to police that “Chicago” was walking toward their meeting spot.
Agents then converged on the man as he took off running. After about 30 yards, the man was tackled to the ground by officers wearing clothing clearly marked with POLICE lettering. The man was later identified as Langston.
Police said they found a large clear plastic bag in Langston’s waistband containing 50 bricks of heroin.
They searched his apartment, finding a gun, digital scales, heroin stamp bags, a black trash bag containing a large quantity of heroin and other drug paraphernalia. Investigators later learned Langston had a fugitive warrant from the FBI office in Chicago.
Langston was charged with receiving stolen property, possession with intent to deliver and other charges.
It’s not clear if Langston will be extradited back to Chicago to face charges there.
Washington police arrested at least 12 people who occupied an Olympia hotel in an alleged attempt to “forcibly take over the hotel” and demand local authorities provide housing for homeless individuals during the coronavirus pandemic, according to local reports.
A 21-year-old Shaler man who admitted to damaging a Pittsburgh police car during the Downtown riots over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis was sentenced Wednesday to one day in U.S. custody and six months in a halfway house.
U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab imposed that term on Brian Bartels and also ordered him to pay $1,000 in restitution. The six-month sentence will be served as part of a three-year term of probation.
Bartels had previously pleaded guilty in September to obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder.
U.S. prosecutors wanted jail time for Bartels but his lawyer asked for probation.
Law enforcement said Bartels kicked in the windshield of a cruiser and then spray-painted a letter A on it during the May 30 protests. His actions spurred on a crowd to further violence that led to the car being burned and other damage.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shaun Sweeney said in sentencing papers that Bartels spray-painted the car “in the presence of an agitated crowd” and then smashed parts of the vehicle “in order to make it unusable by the officers who were trying to prevent civil disorder.”
He said Bartels did not directly assault any officers but obstructed them by damaging their car.
Joseph Otte, Bartels’ lawyer, said his client had accepted responsibility for his actions, meeting less than two days later with investigators to explain what he did.
(CNN)A Chinese-born alleged drug kingpin accused of presiding over a multi-billion dollar narcotics operation has been arrested by Dutch authorities.
Canadian national Tse Chi Lop was detained at Amsterdam’s Schipol International Airport on Friday, according to Australian Federal Police (AFP), which has taken the lead in a sprawling international investigation. Before his arrest, Tse was one of the world’s most-wanted fugitives.
Authorities allege that Tse, 57, is the leader of the Sam Gor Syndicate, arguably the biggest drug-trafficking operation in Asia’s history. Experts say he isin the same league as notorious drug lords El Chapo and Pablo Escobar.
(CNN)The Justice Department revealed new charges against a Texas man who allegedly participated in the Capitol attack and posted online death threats against Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a US Capitol Police officer.
Garret Miller of Texas faces five criminal charges stemming from the Capitol insurrection, including trespassing offenses and making death threats. Miller allegedly tweeted, “assassinate AOC,” according to court documents.
He also said the police officer who fatally shot a Trump supporter during the attack “deserves to die” and won’t “survive long” because it’s “huntin[g] season.”
Rashaad Ricardo Shepard, 41, is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bond.
City police and agents from the state Attorney General’s office said they used a confidential informant this week to make a controlled buy from Shepard at his Columbia Court home. Officers were watching Shepard’s home at 5 p.m. Wednesday while a search warrant was being prepared when they saw him get into a pickup truck and travel a couple blocks to a store, according to court papers.
When police converged on the truck, they said Shepard fled on foot, attempting to hide in some brush behind a South Seventh Street home and running onto Bullitt Avenue. Officers used a Taser on the front stoop of his home and took Shepard into custody, according to court papers.
In a wallet he was holding, investigators reported finding the money used during the controlled buy. Officers retraced his route from the store and found 31 stamp bags of suspected heroin and almost 4 grams of crack cocaine, both of which appeared to have been recently dropped on the ground. Police said they seized two scales and plastic bags from his home.
The U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man at a security checkpoint in Washington on Friday after he flashed what an officer described as an “unauthorized” inauguration credential and a search of his truck found an unregistered handgun and more than 500 rounds of ammunition, the authorities said.
A federal law enforcement official said that the man, Wesley A. Beeler, 31, worked as a contractor, and that his credential was not fake, but was not recognized by the police officer. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the arrest.
A California man is being held in the Westmoreland County Prison without bail after state police accused him of taking a vehicle from a relative in North Carolina and was found in Hempfield Thursday.
Lorenzo Watson, 39, of Oakland, Calif., is charged with receiving stolen property and drug possession.
