Big backups were building on the Parkway East Wednesday after a multi-vehicle accident on the outbound side.
This accident was near the Beechwood Boulevard exit ahead of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. The crash happened just after 6 a.m. and it involved a tractor trailer and two cars.
State police confirmed there one person died as a result of the crash. Police did not release the identity of the person killed.Several emergency vehicles were blocking the right and center lanes. Traffic was slowly getting by on the left-hand side of the roadway. An accident reconstruction team was on the scene investigating.
The scene has since cleared, but residual backups remain.
