PITTSBURGH — A man pleaded guilty Thursday to shooting and killing a 90-year-old man near a cemetery in Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood in December 2019.
Police said Anthony Miller, 29, shot Samuel Rende in the head near Calvary Cemetery. Rende died at a hospital.
According to a criminal complaint, Miller admitted to shooting Rende with a stolen .40 caliber pistol. He then allegedly took the victim’s ring and wristwatch.
Miller’s family said he has a mental illness and wasn’t on medication at the time he killed Rende, who was mentoring Miller and helping him get back on his feet.
