How to play Powerball
Tickets are $2 a pop. You select five white ball numbers from 1-69 and one red “powerball” number from 1-26, according to Oregon Lottery. You can also opt for a “quick pick” that randomly selects the numbers for you.
For an extra $1, you can opt into “Powerplay,” which multiplies non-jackpot winning prizes by a factor of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10.
To win the grand prize, you have to match all six numbers, which includes five white ball numbers and one red ‘powerball’ number.
The numbers have dropped for an estimated $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot – the “world’s largest lotto prize ever offered,” according to the multi-state game operator.
The winning numbers were 28-45-53-56-69 and the Powerball was 20.
The jackpot, which has a lump-sum option of an estimated $782.4 million, “breaks the world record for the Largest National Lottery Jackpot in the Guinness World Records,” the participating California Lottery tweeted.
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — No one became a billionaire after Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, but a number of folks around the country are now millions of dollars richer.
According to the game’s website, the numbers for Wednesday night’s drawing were 2, 11, 22, 35, 60 and Powerball 23. The Powerplay was 2x.
With no winner, the jackpot has grown to an estimated $1.5 billion with a cash value of $745.9 million.
The Powerball jackpot ahead of Monday night’s drawing was an estimated $1 billion, only the second time in the game’s history that the main prize has hit that milestone.
There was no winner that matched all six numbers after Monday’s drawing, and now the estimated jackpot for Wednesday is $1.2 billion, with a cash value of $596.7 million, Powerball said.
The winning numbers in Monday night’s estimated $1 billion jackpot were 19, 13, 39, 59 and 36, and the Powerball was 13. The powerplay number was 3.
While there was no jackpot winner — though more than 5.4 million tickets totaling $59.5 million in cash prizes won on Halloween — Powerball said in a press release, including 10 tickets that matched all five white balls for a $1 million prize.
The Powerball jackpot has increased to $700 million, making it the fifth-largest Powerball jackpot and eighth-largest US lottery jackpot of all time, according to a Powerball news release.
