US election 2020: Trump tries to turn first presidential debate into a campaign rally by talking over Biden and steamrolling moderator – CNNPolitics

(CNN)President Donald Trump launched an immediate attempt to dominate his Democratic rival Joe Biden in their crucial first debate on Tuesday, seeming to try and turn the debate into a campaign rally by talking over Biden and rarely allowing questions to be asked.

Trump constantly attacked Biden and interrupted him during his answers, and sparred with moderator Chris Wallace as early exchanges over health care tipped out of control
The rivals quickly diverted into sharp exchange over health care in a diversion from their first question on Trump’s Supreme Court pick, Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
“Donald, would you just be quiet for a minute,” Biden said, after the President monopolized the stage and kept interrupting him during his answers.

Westmoreland voters could begin receiving mail-in ballots next week | TribLIVE.com

Mail-in and absentee ballots are expected to be sent out to Westmoreland County voters no later than Saturday.

The state’s late certification of ballots two weeks ago delayed the process and final reviews were not completed until this week, said JoAnn Sebastiani, director of the county’s elections bureau. Pending any last-minute issues, the nearly 50,000 voters and counting who requested mail-in ballots should receive them next week.

“We’re doing the final testing of the ballots to make sure they can be read,” Sebastiani said.

The county bought four digital scanners, two more than were on hand for the June primary, to count mail-in ballots cast during the November election.

Sebastiani said requests continue to flow in to the elections bureau in large numbers and as many as 100,000 voters could skip voting in person at the county’s 307 precincts in favor of casting ballots by mail.

Obama admin briefed on claims Hillary Clinton drummed up Russia controversy to vilify Trump, distract from emails | Fox News

The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) declassified information indicating that former President Obama’s administration knew of allegations that former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was attempting to tie Trump to the Russia and distract from her email scandal before the 2016 presidential election.

DNI John Ratcliffe informed the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that the prior administration obtained Russian intelligence in July of 2016 with allegations against Clinton, but cautioned that the intelligence community (IC) “does not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication.”

Ratcliffe’s letter doesn’t offer specifics on the intelligence but does reveal that former CIA Director John Brennan’s handwritten notes show that he briefed Obama on the information. According to his letter, the intelligence included the “alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.”

In a statement on the letter, Ratcliffe pushed back on the idea he was advancing “Russian disinformation.” “To be clear, this is not Russian disinformation and has not been assessed as such by the Intelligence Community. I’ll be briefing Congress on the sensitive sources and methods by which it was obtained in the coming days.”

Minneapolis police investigating alleged ballot harvesting scheme by Omar associates | Fox News

The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating claims by right-wing activist group Project Veritas that individuals tied to Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., engaged in illegal ballot harvesting before the election.

“We are in the process of looking into the validity of those statements,” a department statement read on Monday. “No further information is available at this time on this.”

Newt Gingrich: How the Bidens worked with China to get rich — at America’s expense | Fox News

Joe Biden wants us to believe he’s so close to his son.

When then-Vice President Joe Biden took an official trip to China in 2013, he brought along his son, Hunter Biden. Ten days after the trip, Hunter’s small investment firm partnered with the state-owned Bank of China to establish Bohai Harvest RST (BHR), a private equity fund. The new company ended up raking in some $1.5 billion from the deal.

Curiously, Hunter had no background in private equity and no relevant expertise. Moreover, Hunter had no serious experience in China. We now know from newly released travel records that Hunter traveled to China five times between 2009 and 2014, but that’s it.

Hunter did have one important qualification, though: He was the son of a sitting vice president. Even more striking, then-President Obama had effectively made Biden the administration’s point man for dealing with China. It would be willful blindness to ignore this fact.

Have questions about the election? Target 11 gets answers from woman in charge of elections in Pa. – WPXI

WPXI’s RIck Earle began a one-on-one interview by asking Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar if she feels an added pressure because of the importance Pennsylvania will likely play in deciding the Presidency?

“It’s a critical state for either candidate. Do you feel added pressure?” Earle asked.

“I don’t have a low stress job, but I have the best team in the world,” Boockvar said. “They are working around the clock to make sure every Pennsylvanian gets to vote in a safe secure and accessible election.”

Boockvar is gearing up for the Nov. 3 general election and for an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots because of health concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We had almost 1.5 million ballots cast by mail in the primary, and a little over I think over 1.3 million in person. So that was the first time ever that more voters chose to vote by mail than in person, which is great. Allegheny County was one of the top, I think the top county in the state in terms of mail-ins, so we might see 3 million Pennsylvanians take advantage of it in the general election,” Boockvar said.
