Steelers-Ravens Tuesday Night Game Postponed Again | Pittsburgh, PA Patch

The Steelers-Ravens game originally scheduled for Thanksgiving has been moved yet again.

The game originally was rescheduled to Sunday at Heinz Field, and then it was pushed back to Tuesday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora both tweeted that the game now is scheduled for Wednesday.

If the game is played Wednesday, it’s likely the Steelers’ game Sunday against the Washington Football Team would have to be moved. The Steelers would be playing the game on just three days’ rest; Washington, which defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, would be playing after a 10-day hiatus.

Spinach Recall: New Recalls on Spinach, Basil & Mixed Vegetables – Thrillist

Thanksgiving week brought a deluge of food recalls. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced four of them at the end of the day on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Three of those involve produce that could be sitting in your kitchen.

Those included a recall on baby spinach in six states and eastern Canada, one from Hy-Vee on mixed vegetable packs sold in eight states, and one on organic basil distributed in ten states. It’s a bit of a pile-up that would have been easy to miss if you were focused on the holiday late last week.

Vegpro issued a recall on Fresh Attitude baby spinach due to Salmonella contamination. That’s specifically on five-ounce and 11-ounce packages. That spinach carries best before dates of December 4 on the 11-ounce and December 4 and 5 on the five-ounce packages.

The recalled spinach was distributed throughout eastern Canada, as well as Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The announcement, shared by the FDA, notes that Fresh Attitude products in other US states are produced at a separate facility from the one believed to be the source of Salmonella. Fresh Attitude basil in other states should be unaffected.

Check the kitchen for all 3 recalled items.

Iran’s Ayatollah slams U.K., France, Germany over missile proposals | One America News Network

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is lashing out at the three largest European countries over their calls to limit Iran’s missile program. The Iranian Supreme Leader took aim at the U.K., France and Germany on Tuesday after the countries expressed concerns that Iran scaled back its disarmament commitments.

The Ayatollah accused the Europeans of a “conspiracy”against Iran. He added, the Islamic Republic will not reduce its ballistic missile capacity until all international sanctions are lifted.

Khamenei also went on to claim European countries should disarm first and then Iran would do the same.

“On the missiles, they themselves have and continue to stockpiles of destructive nuclear missiles, which are rejected by reason, logic, religion, and the world. Both Britain and France have it and Germany is on the same path. It is not clear whether it has the stockpile or not but is on the same path. We are told not to have even a basic missile.”

The Ayatollah also expressed hope that Joe Biden would become U.S. president and lift U.S. sanctions on Iran. However, he admitted, President Trump may still win reelection.

Graham warns Biden, Pelosi and Schumer would form ‘trifecta from hell’ if Democrats take Senate | Fox News

“A lot’s at stake” in Georgia’s dual Senate runoff elections on Jan. 5, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told “Hannity” Monday night.

Graham explained to guest host Trey Gowdy that if Republicans win one of the two races and keep their majority, he will be chairman of the Senate Budget Committee beginning next year.

However, if Democrats win both races and the Senate is split 50-50 with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris breaking ties, Graham warned that chairmanship would go to Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

“I may not be your cup of tea out there,” Graham told viewers. “But let me tell you this, I’m a hell of a lot better than Bernie Sanders when it comes to your money.”

Bill that could help Black farmers reclaim millions of acres ‘a step in the right direction’ – ABC News

There was a time when Black-owned farms were booming — before those farmers were stripped of tens of thousands of acres because of racist policies.

Now, most rural land in the U.S. is owned by white people. But now, finally, a new piece of legislation could help African Americans reclaim some of that acreage.

The Justice for Black Farmers Act, introduced earlier this month by Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., would allow Black farmers to reclaim up to 160 acres each, at no charge, through a Department of Agriculture system of land grants.

Kamal Bell, a 29-year-old farmer in Durham, North Carolina, said that such legislation is just the beginning of efforts necessary for certain farms to become sustainable and generate revenue.

“I think it’s definitely a step in the right direction … but we need to create pipelines for African Americans to be educated on a 21st-century farm,” Bell told ABC News. “The production aspect of how to stay in business isn’t taught to you. … We learned this on our own and from other Black farmers we ended up meeting.”

Bell is CEO of Sankofa Farms, a family farm that he purchased while saving up money in college. It aims to serve as a sustainable food source in urban communities, particularly so-called food deserts with few available options for fresh produce.

Afghan officials say 34 killed in separate suicide bombings

GHAZNI, Afghanistan (AP) — At least 34 people were killed on Sunday in two separate suicide bombings in Afghanistan that targeted a military base and a provincial chief, officials said.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attacks, which took place as Afghan government representatives and the Taliban hold face-to-face talks in Qatar for the first time to end the country’s decades-long war.

In eastern Ghazni province, 31 soldiers were killed and 24 others wounded when the attacker drove a military humvee full of explosives onto an army commando base before detonating the car bomb, according to an official in Afghanistan’s National Security Council, who spoke anonymously because he was not permitted to speak directly to the media.

Ghazni’s provincial health department chief, Zahir Shah Nikmal, also confirmed the death toll and casualty figures from the attack.

Seattle-area homeowners report ‘sovereign citizen’ property seizure attempts: report | Fox News

That knock on your door? It might be someone attempting to take your home.

Police in suburbs north of Seattle say so-called “sovereign citizens” have been visiting homes in at least two communities, presenting homeowners with official-looking documents, and announcing that they’re the rightful owners.

In at least one case, a homeowner was told she was being evicted, Seattle’s KIRO-TV reported.

“Their group believes they own all of the land between Alaska and Argentina and all the islands in between,” Sgt. Josh McClure of the Edmonds Police Department told the station. “Unfortunately, Edmonds falls between that land.”

The group has been known to operate in other parts of the U.S. as well, according to the report.

In North Carolina, a couple took over a multimillion-dollar home that had been put up for sale and barricaded themselves inside – until ultimately being arrested for trespassing.

In Maryland, a member of the group moved into a 12-bedroom mansion.

Authorities in Edmonds and Woodway — both in Washington state’s Snohomish County – have been in contact with the FBI about the incidents there, McClure told KIRO.

US Navy Denies Carrier Group Moved into Gulf after Any ‘threats’ | Newsmax.com

Tensions in the region are extraordinarily high after the assassination Friday of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an act still unclaimed but which Iran has blamed on close US ally Israel.

But naval commander Rebecca Rebarich, a spokeswoman for the US 5th Fleet, told AFP the return Wednesday of the carrier group led by the nuclear-powered USS Nimitz was unconnected to any “specific threats.”

“There were no specific threats that triggered the return of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group,” she said in a statement.

“The return of Nimitz is centered on maintaining CENTCOM’s ability to remain postured and prepared to help preserve regional stability and security,” Rebarich said, referring to the US Central Command.

Severe fire danger for Australia as temperatures smash records

Parts of Australia, including Sydney, sweltered through the hottest November night on record with temperatures likely to stay high on Sunday — prompting authorities to issue a total fire ban.

In Sydney, temperatures surpassed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) on Saturday, while swathes of western New South Wales, South Australia and northern Victoria baked through even higher temperatures nearing 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit).

Temperatures are expected to cross 40 degrees Celsius for a second straight day on Sunday, while the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a five or six-day heatwave for parts of northern New South Wales and southeast Queensland.

The predictions for soaring temperatures prompted the Australian Energy Market Operator to say demand may exceed supply in New South Wales on Sunday afternoon.

Legal adviser for President Trump says these arguments in Sidney Powell’s lawsuits could ‘affect the outcome of the election’ – TheBlaze

Pro-Trump attorney Sidney Powell finally came through on her promise to legally challenge the 2020 election Thursday by releasing two highly anticipated lawsuits in Georgia and Michigan alleging widespread fraud. As for what affect the lawsuits will have on the results of the election — which for now show former Vice President Joe Biden defeating President Trump 306-232 in the Electoral College — that remains to be seen.

But at least one Trump campaign legal adviser appears to believe that the claims made in the Georgia lawsuit, if argued successfully before a judge, could overturn the election and grant the president a victory.

What are the details?

In a lengthy Twitter thread Thursday, Harmeet Dhillon, a lawyer and former Republican Party official who is now involved in the Trump campaign’s legal effort, summarized the key claims made in Powell’s suit. She acknowledged that while some of Powell’s major arguments — such as that Dominion Voting Systems software was hacked and that thousands of ballots were pre-printed for Biden — would certainly “be enough to change the election results,” they may be more difficult to prove in court.

Democratic senators warned of potential ‘vote switching’ by Dominion voting machines prior to 2020 election

Four congressional Democrats sent a letter to the owners of Dominion Voting Systems and cited several problems that “threaten the integrity of our elections,” including “vote switching.”

In a December 2019 letter to Dominion Voting Systems, which has been mired in controversy after a human error involving its machines in Antrim County, Michigan, resulted in incorrect counts, Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden, and Amy Klobuchar and congressman Mark Pocan warned about reports of machines “switching votes,” “undisclosed vulnerabilities,” and “improbable” results that “threaten the integrity of our elections.”

Protesters blocked by police in Poland march against abortion ruling and police violence – CBS News

An October 22 ruling by the Polish constitutional court to ban abortions of fetuses with congenital defects, even when the fetus has no chance of survival at birth, sparked the protests.

Police blocked protesters from marching in Poland’s capital as demonstrations took place across the country against an attempt to restrict abortion rights and recent police violence. Police and protesters played a game of cat and mouse in Warsaw as officers set up cordons which the protesters sought to evade, pushing them to try to regroup elsewhere in the city center.

The demonstrations are part of what has evolved into Poland’s largest protest movement since communism fell in the country 30 years ago. An October 22 ruling by the Polish constitutional court to ban abortions of fetuses with congenital defects, even when the fetus has no chance of survival at birth, sparked the protests.

Military plane dumps fuel over Westmoreland County en route to emergency stop at Pittsburgh airport | TribLIVE.com

A Pennsylvania Air National Guard refueling plane forced to make an emergency return to Pittsburgh International Airport on Saturday morning dumped fuel over the Jeannette-Penn Township-North Huntingdon and Manor areas, according to the Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety and state Air National Guard.

The KC-135 Stratosphere was forced to turn around shortly after takeoff at 6:40 a.m. from Pittsburgh International Airport, said Senior Master Sgt. Shawn Monk, a spokesman for the National Guard’s 171st Air Refueling Wing. The plane landed safely at the airport, Monk said.

The refueling plane, which Monk described as “basically a flying gas station,” had to dump the fuel to safely land. The nature of the emergency is under investigation, Monk said.

The Air National Guard is investigating the incident, Monk said. The Federal Aviation Administration also is involved in the probe, according to the county public safety department.

A kerosene-type odor was reported by residents reported to the county’s emergency dispatching center about 8 a.m., which prompted the emergency center to dispatch fire departments in those communities, the public safety department said.
