2020 Ford Explorer hit with 10th recall, this time for faulty engine mount | Fox Business

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs to fix a potentially faulty engine mount that could lead to a loss of power to the wheels, the automaker said.

The action only affects 1,405 vehicles that were built from July 28-30 and sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and no accidents have been linked to the issue.

The recall is the 10th for the Explorer and sixth for the Aviator since they went on sale last year as all-new models sharing a common platform. The recalls have included problems with driveshaft weld seams, seat belts, airbags and other components, often affecting very small numbers of vehicles.

5 dead, vehicle split in half in horrific Westchester County crash

Surveillance video from a nearby gas station showed the moment of impact. Neighbors say speeding has been a problem in the area.

YONKERS, Westchester County (WABC) — Police in Yonkers now say five people have died following a violent, two-car crash that split one of the vehicles in half.

The vehicles crashed on Riverdale Avenue at Culver Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

One of the cars was so badly damaged it was split in half.

Driver dies after vehicle crashes and catches on fire | WPEC

A 54-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Manalapan.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the driver was traveling northbound on Ocean Drive when the vehicle veered off the road, hitting trees, a utility box, and gas line. The crash resulted in the car catching on fire.

The driver became stuck inside the vehicle. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue pronounced him dead on the scene.

A passenger in the car was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for his injuries. No word on his condition.

Man taken to the hospital after vehicle slides off road in Westmoreland County

A man was taken to the hospital Friday morning after the car he was driving slid off a road and into an electric fence around a cow pasture.

The crash happened off of Derr Road in West Newton, located between Greensburg Pike and Pierce Road.

The condition of the driver wasn’t immediately available.

The farmer who lives on the property said no animals got loose.

Photos show deadly 66-car pile-up in PA during snowstorm

Shocking photos show what happened when a dozen tractor-trailers skidded out of control on snow-covered Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania during Wednesday night’s winter storm — killing one person

The 66-vehicle pileup, including 55 trucks and 11 passenger vehicles, over a mile span on the westbound side of the highway happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday in Clinton County, State Police said Thursday.

The stretch remained closed Thursday afternoon with contractors trying to clear the vehicles, according to cops.

A second passenger died during the incident due to a medical issue, but it was not connected to the crash, cops said.

The fatality was one of five lives claimed during Winter Storm Gail, the first snowstorm of the season — which dumped more snow on New York City than all of last year combined.

Another death was reported just outside Pittsburgh when a man was hit by a plow around 4:45 p.m. while walking with a snowblower, according to the local CBS station.

WASHINGTON – Honda Motor Co said on Tuesday it was recalling 1.79 million vehicles worldwide in four separate campaigns, including some linked to reported fires.

The recalls cover 1.4 million vehicles in the United States.

The Japanese automaker said one recall covers 268,000 2002-2006 model year CR-V vehicles in the United States to replace power window master switches. Honda said there had been no reported injuries, but 16 fires reported related to the issue.

Honda conducted a prior recall of the power window master switches in 2012. The new recall is in response to moisture-related failures of switches repaired under the previous campaign.

In preparation for a major winter storm event, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are advising motorists to avoid all unnecessary travel during the storm, and are anticipating that restrictions on trucks and other vehicles will be imposed on certain roadways around the state.

“We have been preparing for winter since the last one ended, and we’re calling on the public to be our partners in safe travel,” PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian in a press release. “Please, avoid traveling and if you must travel, be sure to check travel conditions and give plow operators plenty of space so they can do their jobs safely and effectively.”

69-year-old man killed in ATV crash in Westmoreland County

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Pa. —A 69-year-old man was killed in an ATV crash in St. Clair Township, Westmoreland County on Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 11:55 a.m. on Robb Run Road.

State police said Joseph Bucceri of New Florence was headed north when he lost control of the ATV and it flipped on the roadway.Bucceri was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said the investigation is ongoing.

Siblings, 4 and 6, killed as car crashes into mini golf course – New York Daily News

Tragedy occurred at a Florida miniature golf course Friday when a truck veered into the venue, killing two young siblings.

A 6-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy died in the crash in Panama City Beach, which occurred when the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck went off a nearby road and onto the Coconut Creek Family Fun Park, according to the Panama City News Herald.

Reports identify the driver as Scott Davidson of Panama City Beach.One of the children died at a local hospital, and the other died at the scene of the crash, the Panama City News Herald reports.

The children had been playing mini golf with their family and were visiting from Louisville, Ky., according to Tampa Bay news station WTSP.Footage from the scene shows the sidewalk in front of the outdoor event center was closed off as police cars and emergency vehicles surrounded the area.

The campaign staffer, identified as Harrison Deal, was also a family friend of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) and a former intern for Sen. David Perdue (R), according to Fox News.

Loeffler expressed her condolences for Deal’s family on Twitter, calling him a “beloved member” of her campaign team.

“More importantly, Harrison was a smart, bright, loving, loyal and outstanding young man,” she wrote in a subsequent tweet, before asking her fellow Georgians to join her in praying for his family.

Woman injured in carjacking in Pittsburgh’s South Side

A woman was injured during a carjacking in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood Thursday.

Pittsburgh police responded to a report of a carjacking on East Carson Street around 9:35 a.m.

Dr. John Talarico is one of the people who helped the woman.

He said, “Got the bleeding stopped, called the police and paramedics and they came and took care of her.”

A man who is too afraid to tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 his name or show his face saw the whole thing happen.

He said, “A guy came rushing into the car opened the door. The victim got out of the car with blood all over her face, she apparently had been slashed I waved her to come to me. She hurried over to me we moved over to a safer area.”

He said the two hid outside of a nearby business along Carson Street, then rushed inside of Talarico Chiropractic Clinic.

She suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Police were able to locate the vehicle near the Baldwin-Whitehall border around 11:15 a.m.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

(CNN)At least five people were killed, including a 9-month-old baby, and several others injured when a man plowed his car into a group of people in a pedestrian zone in the southwest German city of Trier on Tuesday, police said.

Officers arrested the driver of the car, a 51-year-old German national. He was being questioned by police and will be prosecuted for murder and manslaughter, police said.
The chief public prosecutor said the driver was “severely intoxicated” — with a blood alcohol level of 1.4 — and there are “indications of psychological illness.”
Trier police said the motive was unknown, that the suspect has no police record and his background shows an indication of political motivation.

Police Chase Ends With Multi-Vehicle Crash, Officer-Involved Shooting – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Pittsburgh Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Homestead.

At this time, details are still limited.

The incident started with a car chase in Homestead that ended in the city of Pittsburgh.

According to Pittsburgh Police, it started around 11:00 Saturday night when Homestead Police saw a vehicle driving erratically.

The Homestead officer chased the vehicle into Pittsburgh before a crash took place involving their vehicles and a third vehicle.

 

After that is when Police say the officer shot the alleged suspect in the upper torso in the 3300 block of East Carson Street.

Pittsburgh paramedics took the man to the hospital in stable condition.

Pittsburgh Police are investigating the shooting and will interview the Homestead Police officer and other parties involved.

Man dies in Fayette County ATV crash

Police said both vehicles were in the left lane, with one traveling north and the other traveling south at the time of the accident.

Officers also said the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed for around three and a half hours.

Emergency crews were called to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Friday afternoon after a vehicle versus pedestrian crash, according to Somerset County 911.

Officials say the crash happened westbound near mile marker 114, near the Somerset Exit.

State police say one person was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with unknown injuries.

1 dead in crash in Franklin Township, Beaver County

One person died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Franklin Township, Beaver County.

Police said the driver of one of the vehicles died. The coroner identified the victim as James Cunningham, 38, of the Butler area.

Three people were taken to a Pittsburgh hospital, and a fourth person was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, police said.

No information about the conditions of the patients was available and the lawyers were determining who’s at fault in a car accident  but the cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Coroner IDs woman killed in Trafford car crash | TribLIVE.com

Elizabeth E. Hufnagel, 87, was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Steven Grabiak.

According to the coroner’s report, Hufnagel was the passenger of a 2018 Subaru Legacy that was traveling south on Belleau Wood Boulevard around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. According to the report, the vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a yard and collided with a tree.

The condition of the driver, who was not identified, was not provided.

Auto parts supplier Denso has added 1.5 million vehicles to a recall list for a fuel pump it makes, bringing the total to 3.53 million cars.

The affected model years are 2013-2020.

If you own a vehicle with this fuel pump, Denso says you’ll be notified by the automaker. However, as always with recalls, if you bought the vehicle used, the government and the automaker may not know you’re the current owner. So you should take it upon yourself to enter your car’s VIN at NHTSA’s recall lookup page.

One dead after motorcycle crash in Somerset County | WTAJ – www.wearecentralpa.com

JENNER TWP., SOMERSET CO., Pa. (WTAJ) — A Hooversville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash, State Police out of Somerset report.

The crash occurred on Nov. 8 around 3:39 p.m. when 22-year-old Tanner Friedline was riding his bike in the 5600 block of Penn Avenue in Jenner Township. While traveling north, Friedline reportedly came over a crest in the road and attempted to steer away from an oncoming car before losing control.

Friedline, who police report was wearing a helmet, hit the oncoming car head-on. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was wearing her seatbelt and no physical injuries were reported for her.

More than a dozen killed in fiery gas-tanker blast on Mexican highway

A gas tanker explosion along a Mexican highway killed at least a dozen people on Monday, according to reports.

The massive blast shook the busy Guadalajara-Tepic highway shortly before 11 a.m., sending motorists scrambling from their cars for safety, the Spanish-language newspaper El Universal said in a report.

Dramatic video posted on Twitter shows motorists leaving their cars and walking towards what appears to be a collision on the road ahead — only to scramble for their lives in the other direction when a burst of fire and smoke erupts in front of them.

Authorities said the explosion was caused by a tanker truck lugging natural gas that crashed into three other vehicles, bursting into flames, according to Mexico’s Milenio newspaper.

At least five people were killed in a pickup truck at the scene, three others while inside a Honda car, and three others in an unidentified vehicle

Minivan driver extricated, hospitalized after crashing into Port Authority Bus | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Rescue crews worked to free a man after he became trapped inside a minivan that crashed into a Port Authority bus Friday night in the Strip District. The driver was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Pittsburgh police, fire and EMS responded to the crash scene in the 1600 block of Liberty Avenue around 6:30 p.m., Public Safety spokesperson Maurice Matthews said.

The bus operator and one passenger were inside the bus at the time, Mr. Matthews said. The passenger told responders they had a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated.

Police temporarily shut down Liberty Avenue in both directions. Port Authority Police are investigating.

  • There are 15,587 vehicles affected in the first recall and 10,905 being recalled in the second.
  • In both recalls, if the affected parts fail, it can lead to a loss of power while driving or unintentional vehicle movement while the vehicle is stopped.

Ford has issued two separate recalls today, including one for the 2014 to 2016 Taurus and Explorer as well as the 2014 Edge, and another for the 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. The first recall, for a total of 15,587 U.S. vehicles, is to replace a link shaft bracket that could fracture and lead to a loss of power while driving or cause the parking function to fail leading to the vehicle rolling while in park. The second recall of the 2020 models, for a total of 10,905 U.S. vehicles, is for a driveshaft that could fracture along a welding seam, causing either unintentional vehicle movement or a loss of power when driving.

Two people were hurt in a crash early Thursday morning in Pittsburgh’s Lincoln Place neighborhood.

The crash happened shortly before 4 a.m. near the intersection of Plaport Street and Interboro Avenue.

Two people were taken to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries was unknown.

2 injured in rollover crash overnight in Mount Oliver | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The crash occurred around 1 a.m. in Mount Oliver, according to Allegheny County emergency officials.

One person was trapped inside and had to be rescued by first responders on the scene, Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV reported.

That person and another passenger were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
