Presidents Day 2024: What’s open, what’s closed? Banks, post offices, UPS, FedEx, more

Today is Presidents Day, a time set aside to honor all those who have served as the country’s chief executive.

On a federal level, the day honors the country’s first president, George Washington, whose birthday is Feb. 22. The 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, is traditionally included in the official celebration, though some states, like Alabama, omit the Civil War-era leader. Lincoln’s birthday is Feb. 12.

Federal offices – Closed

State offices – Closed

Municipal, county offices – Most closed

Public transportation – Modified schedules are possible, check ahead

Garage service – Most on modified schedules, check ahead

Finacial markets – NYSE and Nasdaq are closed

Schools – Closed

U.S. Postal Service – Closed. Mail will not run and post offices are closed

Banks – Closed

UPS – Open and packages will be delivered on Presidents Day

FedEx – Open and packages will be delivered on Presidents Day

Retailers – Open, including Target and Walmart

Grocery stores – Open
