Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County announces rate increase

Home

The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County announced its first rate increase in more than a half-decade on Wednesday.

For most, their rate will increase between 86 cents and $4 per month based on average consumption.

The one exception is customers in White Oak. Their wastewater bills will rise by $21 a month.

MAWC says that the hike is to offset a substantial rate increase from PA American Water which operates the plant that services those customers.

MAWC says the last time it raised rates for customers was in April 2018.
