St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s office is advising drivers to avoid I-55 North and South. Roads are shut down due to a multi-car accident.
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. —At least eight people were killed and 63 others hurt in a crash involving 168 vehicles on Interstate 55, just outside of New Orleans, authorities said Tuesday.
The crash happened Monday morning on Interstate 55 near milepost 22 in St. John the Baptist Parish. Three 18-wheelers were involved in the accident and at least two were fully engulfed in flames, according to Louisiana State Police.
