Monroeville apartment fire sparks donations for those displaced

The fire tore through a section of the Cambridge Square Apartments in Monroeville Tuesday morning.

Of those 65 people, 19 of them are students in the Gateway School District. Thursday, the Pitcairn municipal building will be the site for delivering donations collected by the district.

Meanwhile, a local business owner gathered donations from across the county to help these families.

Owner of Lelulo’s Pizza in Plum, Peyton McCune said she sends her kids to the day care where McClelland works. When McCune heard about the fire, she put out a call for donations and ended up with a full car of clothes from the Poppin Tags Free Store and other necessities.

“They brought bags of clothes, all kinds of sizes for everybody. It’s just been nothing but love and support,” McClelland said.

McCune also received donations from a local food pantry.
