SWAT officers responded to a North Hills neighborhood Tuesday afternoon on the report of a standoff.
Thompson Run Road between White Oak Drive and Cherrington Drive was closed as officers responded to the scene.
Police tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the incident began as a domestic situation.The victim called 911 to report her adult son, 48-year-old Robert Gentile had attacked her and barricaded himself in his room.
The woman was able to exit the home. Police said she was suffering from minor injuries.
The victim told police her son was in possession of multiple weapons to include at least one AK-47 rifle.
The suspect eventually surrendered, police said.
