Police investigating after armed robbery at Penn Hills Family Dollar

Penn Hills police are investigating an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store in Penn Hills Friday evening.

Police said that around 8:15 p.m. a man entered the store and pulled out a handgun at the cash register. According to police, the clerk gave him a Family Dollar bag filled with cash before he fled out the front door toward Frankstown Avenue.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage.

Police Issue Amber Alert for 16-Year-Old Marjani Aquil – CBS Pittsburgh

Police are looking for 16-year-old Marjani Aquil, who they believe was abducted by her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday night.

Aquil, a black female, is 5-foot-4, 140 pounds with long black hair and blonde highlights. She is wearing a grey long-sleeved T-shirt, light blue denim jeans and tan boots.

The suspected abductor is 19-year-old Jermaine Laquay Rodgers. He is a 19-year-old black male who is 5-foot-8, 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and he is driving a red sedan.

Vehicle rolls over, driver flees after striking utility pole in Penn Hills

A vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled over just before 2 a.m. Wednesday in Penn Hills, forcing authorities to close Universal Road from Stotler Road to South Joslyn Drive, township authorities said.

Power was knocked out in the area when the pole was sheared off and downed power lines, and the driver fled on foot before first responders arrived, the fire department said. The road is expected to reopen fully by the evening rush hour.
