(CNN)A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of impregnating woman in a vegetative state who gave birth last month at a Phoenix health care facility, Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams said Wednesday.Nathan Sutherland, a licensed practical nurse who was caring for the woman at the Hacienda HealthCare facility, has been arrested and is being booked on preliminary charges of sexual assault and vulnerable-adult abuse, Williams said.Sutherland’s DNA “matched the baby” when crime lab technicians tested it Tuesday, Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said.Caretakers of the woman were taken by surprise by the December 29 birth, with one telling a 911 dispatcher, “We had no idea she was pregnant.” The woman is a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and has long been in a vegetative state, the tribe’s chairman has said.
Greensburg police on Tuesday arrested a city resident for allegedly assaulting a woman inside an apartment during an argument.
Bryan Massello, 35, was arraigned Wednesday before Greensburg District Judge Christine Flanigan on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness.

A Jeannette man whose credit card was declined for an overnight stay at a Southwest Greensburg hotel early Sunday returned to the lobby a few minutes later and assaulted the clerk before fleeing with $121 from the cash register, borough police said.
Julius N. McGhee, 53, was charged with robbery, simple assault, receiving stolen property and theft following the incident at the Knights Inn at 3:59 a.m., according to Southwest Borough Police .
A California high school valedictorian was abruptly cut off when she tried to speak about sexual assault during her graduation speech, according to reports.

“Lulabel Seitz is a fierce truth teller and they tried to silence her- don’t you understand sexual assault victims will be silenced no more????” she tweeted Saturday.
Stewart Weldon, who was arrested Sunday after a car chase that ended when he crashed into a police cruiser and wrestled with officers, “does, we believe, live at this address,” Gulluni said.
A woman in Weldon’s car said he held her captive for a month, sexually assaulted her and beat her with a hammer and other objects, police said.
“Thank you for saving my life,” the woman told officers, according to a police report. “I never thought I would get away.”
