BEAVER COUNTY POLICE CHASE: Woman arrested after chase, crash into 2 police vehicles | WPXI

A woman was arrested Tuesday morning after her SUV crashed into two police vehicles following a chase in Beaver County, authorities said.

Authorities said the woman was followed for about 25 miles as she zigzagged through traffic, nearly hitting a school bus and other cars and traveling upward of 80 mph at times.

“She definitely posed a threat the several times she went through areas. There were people moving on the side of the streets that I could see while we were chasing her,” Aliquippa police Sgt. Steven Roberts said.

The woman arrested was wanted on multiple arrest warrants in the county, police said, and she appeared to be intoxicated. Officials said she refused to take a blood test or Breathalyzer.

After the woman’s SUV hit the police vehicles — one from Center Township and the other from Aliquippa — additional police vehicles helped block her in, officials said.

The woman is facing charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

No injuries were reported.

Emboldened crowds took to the streets of Caracas after the 35-year-old lawmaker and a small contingent of heavily armed soldiers appeared in an early morning video showing him promoting the “final phase” of his putsch to oust Maduro.

“The armed forces have taken the right decision,” Guaido said. “With the support of the Venezuelan people and the backing of our constitution, they are on the right side of history.”

He added: “The moment is now.”

Warfighters Need ‘Uncompromised’ Technology, Official Says > U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE > Article

“We are in a very highly contested environment, with our opponents quite successfully taking our stuff,” William Stephens said at a forum on supply chain security and software at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, noting that U.S. intelligence analysts and other sources support that assessment.

Techniques adversaries use to figure out new U.S. technology before soldiers or airmen get a chance to use it vary greatly, he said, but include such things as exploitation of relationships in the technology community — such as at conferences and trade shows — as well as email and mail, surveillance, exploitation of cyber operations, exports or supply chains, and even insider access and outright theft.

Americans pay for a lot of technology to support the warfighter, Stephens said, and when that technology is compromised before the warfighter is able to use it, Americans lose out on their investment. But the biggest threat from compromised technology, he added, is to warfighters themselves.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, on leave amid book probe, has homes and City Hall office raided by feds | Fox News

Federal agents raided two homes belonging to Baltimore’s embattled mayor as well as City Hall on Thursday amid ongoing investigations into lucrative sales of her “Healthy Holly” books.

The Democratic mayor, who is currently on a leave of absence she’s blamed on pneumonia, has faced mounting calls to resign after it was discovered she reportedly received $500,000 from the University of Maryland Medical System for her self-authored “Healthy Holly” children’s book series.

UMMS reportedly paid Pugh for 100,000 copies of her books between 2011 and 2018, while she was on its board, with the stated intention of distributing the books to schools and day care centers.

But some 50,000 copies remain unaccounted for and officials are probing if they were ever even printed.

Americans getting more inactive, computers partly to blame

Americans are becoming increasingly sedentary, spending almost a third of their waking hours sitting down, and computer use is partly to blame, a new study found.

Over almost a decade, average daily sitting time increased by roughly an hour, to about eight hours for U.S. teens and almost 6 1/2 hours for adults, according to the researchers. That includes school and work hours, but leisure-time computer use among all ages increased too.

By 2016, at least half of American kids and adults spent an hour or more of leisure time daily using computers. There are many services like this Managed IT Services Chicago who are bringing in courses which can help people understand and develop on the skill. The biggest increase was among the oldest adults: 15% of retirement-aged adults reported using computers that often in 2003-04, soaring to more than half in 2015-16.

Popular e-cigarette products contaminated with bacterial and fungal toxins, study finds

Human exposure to the toxins has previously been associated with lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and COPD.

“Finding these toxins in e-cigarette products adds to the growing concerns that we have about the safety of e-cigarettes,” said Dr. David Christiani, study author and professor of environmental genetics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public in Boston.

The researchers examined 75 popular e-cigarette products — 37 single-use cartridges and 38 e-liquids from 10 top selling U.S. brands. The products were classified into four different flavor categories: tobacco, menthol, fruit, and other; and screened for the presence of endotoxin and glucan, toxic inflammatory substances that damage the lungs.

They found that 17 of 75 products, 23%, contained traces of endotoxin, a potent inflammatory molecule found in bacteria, and 61 of 75 products, 81%, contained traces of glucan, a toxic substance found in the cell walls of most fungi. Exposure to these microbial toxins has been associated with a myriad of health problems, including asthma, reduced lung function, and inflammation.
