The store is located in the 200 block of West George Street.
“From what we know right now, there was an altercation earlier in the day,” said District Attorney David Russo. “We do know there was gunfire exchange between the individuals.”
Russo said the three people are in the hospital but did not release their conditions.
The district attorney said five people were involved in the incident. Four people were in one car and one person was in another car. Investigators believe at least one person ran from the scene and into a nearby alley.
“(I saw) A man running from behind the dairy mart, then I watched him walk in behind on the side section and tuck the gun and take off up the alley,” said Carmichaels Mayor Melodie Berardi. “He was bleeding from the head. It was a little scary, a little crazy.”
“This is very unusual, very unusual for this little town,” Russo said.
Russo added that there are at least two suspects. He said the Pennsylvania State Police have taken over the investigation and said all of the people who were involved in the incident are accounted for.
