SOUTH CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. — A man was shot and killed by Connellsville police after a woman’s body was found inside a home Tuesday afternoon in Fayette County, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Connellsville police had been called shortly after 4:30 p.m. to check on the welfare of a 45-year-old woman at a home on Second Street in South Connellsville, authorities said.
Once officers got to the home, a 33-year-old man allowed them inside. That’s when, according to police, the woman’s body was found in the basement.
Officers tried to detain the man. However, the man struggled with officers and fired a gun at them, police said. At that point, officers fired back at the man, who was shot and died.
