Nearly 8.5 million pounds of Tyson chicken recalled due to Listeria concerns

Tyson Food Inc. is recalling nearly 8.5 million pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to a press release on Saturday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Food Safety and Inspection Service was notified in June of two people who were sick with listeriosis, an infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes, according to the release. An investigation, which identified three cases of the illness between April and June, revealed one person had died from listeriosis.

Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.

The chicken products include frozen, fully-cooked chicken such as Tyson Pulled Chicken Breast, Tyson Fully Cooked Diced Grilled Chicken Breast with Rib Meat, Tyson Fully Cooked, Char-Broiled Boneless Chicken Meat for Fajitas and more.

What’s included in the recall

A total of 84 fish products are part of a voluntary recall issued by their manufacturer, Banner Smoked Fish, Inc. of Brooklyn, NY, including smoked fish, pickled fish, fish in cream sauce, and fish salads. The items were sold online and in retailers located in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, California, Florida, Nebraska, Arizona, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Nevada, Oregon, Wisconsin, Michigan, Washington, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Over 130K pounds of chicken products recalled over possible listeria contamination | Fox Business

The affected products were distributed in individual food boxes to consumers at local food banks in Florida through the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program.

More than 130,000 pounds of frozen chicken products are being recalled over fears that they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a recall notice for the frozen, fully cooked, diced chicken items that were packaged on Jan. 25, 2021; Jan. 26, 2021; March 23, 2021; and March 24, 2021.

Hyundai recalls more than 390,000 vehicles, due to possible engine fires – CBS News

Hyundai is recalling more than 390,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada for two problems that can cause engine fires. In one recall, owners are being told to park their vehicles outdoors until repairs are made.

The largest recall covers more than 203,000 Santa Fe Sport SUVs from 2013 through 2015. Some are being recalled a second time. Brake fluid can leak into the anti-lock brake computer, causing an electrical short that can lead to fires. Owners should park outdoors and away from structures until the problem is fixed, according to documents posted Tuesday by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Dealers will replace a fuse and replace the computer if necessary. Owners will be notified in June.

Subaru recalls vehicles to fix engine, suspension problems | Fox Business

Subaru is recalling nearly 875,000 cars and SUVs throughout the United States due to engine and suspension problems.

The stalling recall covers more than 466,000 Crosstrek SUVs from 2018 and 2019 and Impreza cars from 2017 through 2019. The company says in government documents that a computer can power the ignition coil after the car is shut off. That can cause a short circuit.

Dealers will update the software, replace ignition coils and if necessary install a new front exhaust pipe. The recall is to start May 28.

Extra-strength acetaminophen recalled nationwide | Fox Business

Nearly 200,000 bottles of extra-strength acetaminophen, used to relieve pain and fevers and sold under multiple brand names, are being recalled nationwide due to a mislabeling issue.

A-S Medication Solutions, LLM voluntarily recalled bottles of its Acetaminophen Extra Strength 500 mg tablets because they have “an incomplete prescription drug label rather than the required OTC Drug Facts label,” the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a notice.

Representatives for A-S Medication Solutions did not return FOX Business’ request for comment.

Extra-strength acetaminophen is sold under various brand names

The 100-count bottles labeled with National Drug Code (NDC) 50090-5350-0 were packed inside white pill bottles within a clear plastic bag as part of Health Essentials Kits.

The kits, which included other seasonal products such as Halls cough drops, were “distributed by Humana to its members,” according to the FDA.

The affected bottles were “likely” distributed nationwide between Jan. 14, 2021, and March 15, 2021. The expiration dates are either July 31, 2022, or Aug. 31, 2022.

The company is not aware of any reports of “adverse events” related to the recalled product. However, the agency said the affected bottles, which lack “the full OTC Drug Facts chart,” should be returned.

ASM or its distributors will provide pre-addressed return mailers for customers, the FDA said.

Dog Food Recall 2021: Midwestern Pet Foods Recalls Dog Food Over Salmonella – Thrillist

Midwestern Pet Foods, the same company that issued a big recall in January due to aflatoxin, has recalled products from 10 dog and cat food brands due to the potential for salmonella contamination. The brands involved include CanineX, Earthborn Holistic, Venture, Unrefined, Sportmix Wholesomes, Pro Pac, Pro Pac Ultimates, Sportstrail, Sportmix, and Meridian. The full list of recalled bags is very long.

The recall is specifically for food produced at the company’s Monmouth, Illinois facility. Though, those products were distributed nationwide and to online retailers. You’re looking for an “M” in the date code on the bag that designates it as having been produced at the facility where salmonella was detected, per the company’s recall. The lot code information is printed on the back of the bag and looks like this: “EXP AUG/02/22/M1/L#.

The Quaker Oats Company Issues Voluntary Recall of Quaker Rice Crisps Sweet Barbecue Flavor Due to Undeclared Soy Issue

According to the recall notice, individuals with soy sensitivities or allergies “run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product contained inside the recalled bags.”

In total, 4,550 bags of the potentially contaminated chips are being recalled, each bearing UPC number 0 30000 31984 0 and a best before date of May 29, 2021, written as “MAY29213M21” on the packaging. The affected products may have been sold in the following 21 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

While no illnesses associated with the consumption of the aforementioned Quaker Oats product have been reported, the FDA says that anyone with the recalled snacks at home should return them to their point of purchase to receive a refund or contact Quaker Consumer Relations at 800-367-6287.

A Popular Dewalt Heater Is Subject to a Recall Over Carbon Monoxide Concerns

A popular heater sold at numerous stores throughout the U.S. is subject to a recall over the device presenting both carbon monoxide poisoning and fire risk.

According to the Feb. 3 recall notice issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DeWALT has recalled approximately 4,500 of its cordless kerosene forced-air heaters due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and fire they present. The heaters, which were sold at both Lowe’s and farm supply stores between June and Nov. 2020, are being pulled from shelves after the company received a report of one heater turning on in standby mode. As of the recall date, no injuries have been associated with the heater’s use.

The recalled heaters have either model number DXH90CFAK and serial numbers ranging between 340902-20001001and 340902-20004000 or the model number DXH90CFAKM and serial numbers ranging between 340901-20001001 and 340901-20001500. Anyone with one of the affected devices at home “should immediately stop using the recalled heaters and contact Enerco for a free replacement corded heater,” according to the recall notice. Tesla to recall more than 130,000 cars following regulators’ pressure

Tesla voluntarily recalled 134,951 Model S and Model X vehicles with touchscreen failures that led to the loss of several safety-related features.

Following pressure from U.S. regulators, Tesla is recalling 134,951 Model S and Model X vehicles due to common touchscreen failures that can lead to the loss of several safety-related features while driving.

Cars that are part of the voluntary recall were made at Tesla’s plant in Fremont, California, and include Model S sedans manufactured between 2012 and 2018 and Model X SUVs in model years 2016 to 2018.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration asked Tesla on Jan. 13 to recall 158,716 of its Model S and X electric vehicles after it concluded that media control unit failures were increasingly common in aging Tesla vehicles, and posed significant safety issues.

More than 100 pets died, over 200 sickened from recalled pet food, FDA says | Fox Business

Hundreds of pets have died and others have been sickened after eating recalled pet food manufactured by Midwestern Pet Foods, according to the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) updated recall notice.

As of Jan. 21, the FDA became aware that more than 110 dogs died and over 210 others fell ill after consuming food from the company’s Oklahoma plant “that may contain potentially fatal levels of aflatoxins.”

However, as new information becomes available, “case counts and the scope of this recall may expand,” the FDA said.

Earlier this month, the company expanded its recall “out of an abundance of caution” to include pet food products containing corn that were manufactured in the company’s Oklahoma manufacturing plant and have an expiration date on or before July 9, 2022.

Pet food recall expanded after more than 70 dogs die

FDA investigates potentially fatal levels of aflatoxins, poisons produced by mold that’s not necessarily visible.

Midwestern Pet Food is expanding its recall of dog and cat food sold online by retailers nationwide as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigates potentially fatal levels of aflatoxins.

Midwestern, based in Evansville, Indiana, is broadening a prior recall to include all pet foods manufactured in the company’s Oklahoma plant containing corn and having an expiration date on or before July 9, 2022.

Hyundai recalls 471K more SUVs, tells owners to park outside

The latest recall covers certain model-year 2016 through 2018, and additional 2020 through 2021, Hyundai Tucson SUVs. The vehicles have antilock brake system computers that can malfunction internally and cause an electrical short. That can lead to a fire.

Tucsons equipped with Hyundai’s Smart Cruise Control feature are not being recalled.

You may be able to keep most of your spices in your pantry for a long time, but not this garlic powder, which is facing a recall for an undeclared allergen.

According to the FDA announcement on Dec. 23, B&G Foods is voluntarily recalling the 5.37 oz. bottles of its Food Club Garlic Powder due to a packaging error. Instead of the product promised, the bottle of garlic powder may actually contain bacon-flavored bits. These bacon bits contain soy, an allergen that is not typically in garlic powder and is not declared on the label. “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the bacon-flavored bits contained in the recalled containers,” the FDA announcement warns. “There is no health risk associated with this product for individuals without an allergy to soy.”

Fortunately, it should be very clear that you’ve purchased an incorrect product. The FDA says it should be “readily apparent to consumers” if their garlic powder container is filled with bacon bits instead. According to the announcement, 1,301 cases of the product were mistakenly labeled, but the recall only affects garlic powder containers with “best by” dates of Nov. 19, 2022 and Nov. 20, 2022.

Ceiling fans sold at Home Depot recalled after blades fly off

Ceiling fans sold exclusively at Home Depot have been recalled because the fan blades could detach and cause injury.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, King of Fans Inc., is recalling the 54-inch Hampton Bay Mara indoor/outdoor ceiling fans in matte white, matte black, black and polished nickel finishes. The fans came with a white color changing integrated LED light and a remote control.

Owners are advised to stop using the fans immediately and inspect them, using these instructions.

The company said it has received 47 reports of the blade detaching from the fan, including two reports of the fan blade hitting a consumer and four reports of the blade causing property damage.

The company is advising if fan owners see any blade movement or uneven gaps between the blades and fan body or movement of the clip, they should contact King of Fans for a free replacement ceiling fan.

“We’re committed to the safety and quality of our products so we contacted the Consumer Product Safety Commission and voluntarily recalled the product and stopped sales when we discovered the issue,” said Christina Cornell, a Home Depot spokesperson.

The fans have been sold at Home Depot stores nationwide from April through October 2020 for about $150. Cornell said the retailer has sold about 80,000 of the fans.

2020 Ford Explorer hit with 10th recall, this time for faulty engine mount | Fox Business

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs to fix a potentially faulty engine mount that could lead to a loss of power to the wheels, the automaker said.

The action only affects 1,405 vehicles that were built from July 28-30 and sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and no accidents have been linked to the issue.

The recall is the 10th for the Explorer and sixth for the Aviator since they went on sale last year as all-new models sharing a common platform. The recalls have included problems with driveshaft weld seams, seat belts, airbags and other components, often affecting very small numbers of vehicles.

Honda recalling 1.79M vehicles worldwide for safety issues | Fox Business

The Japanese automaker said one recall covers 268,000 2002-2006 model year CR-V vehicles in the United States to replace power window master switches. Honda said there had been no reported injuries, but 16 fires reported related to the issue.

WASHINGTON – Honda Motor Co said on Tuesday it was recalling 1.79 million vehicles worldwide in four separate campaigns, including some linked to reported fires.

The recalls cover 1.4 million vehicles in the United States.

The Japanese automaker said one recall covers 268,000 2002-2006 model year CR-V vehicles in the United States to replace power window master switches. Honda said there had been no reported injuries, but 16 fires reported related to the issue.

Spinach Recall: New Recalls on Spinach, Basil & Mixed Vegetables – Thrillist

Thanksgiving week brought a deluge of food recalls. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced four of them at the end of the day on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. Three of those involve produce that could be sitting in your kitchen.

Those included a recall on baby spinach in six states and eastern Canada, one from Hy-Vee on mixed vegetable packs sold in eight states, and one on organic basil distributed in ten states. It’s a bit of a pile-up that would have been easy to miss if you were focused on the holiday late last week.

Vegpro issued a recall on Fresh Attitude baby spinach due to Salmonella contamination. That’s specifically on five-ounce and 11-ounce packages. That spinach carries best before dates of December 4 on the 11-ounce and December 4 and 5 on the five-ounce packages.

The recalled spinach was distributed throughout eastern Canada, as well as Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The announcement, shared by the FDA, notes that Fresh Attitude products in other US states are produced at a separate facility from the one believed to be the source of Salmonella. Fresh Attitude basil in other states should be unaffected.

Denso fuel pumps recalled in 3.5M Toyotas, Hondas, Fords, Subarus | Autoblog

Auto parts supplier Denso has added 1.5 million vehicles to a recall list for a fuel pump it makes, bringing the total to 3.53 million cars.

The affected model years are 2013-2020.

If you own a vehicle with this fuel pump, Denso says you’ll be notified by the automaker. However, as always with recalls, if you bought the vehicle used, the government and the automaker may not know you’re the current owner. So you should take it upon yourself to enter your car’s VIN at NHTSA’s recall lookup page.

Ford Issues Two Recalls That Include 2014–16, 2020 Explorer

  • Ford has issued two recalls, including one for the 2014 to 2016 Taurus and Explorer as well as the 2014 Edge, and another for the 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator.
  • There are 15,587 vehicles affected in the first recall and 10,905 being recalled in the second.
  • In both recalls, if the affected parts fail, it can lead to a loss of power while driving or unintentional vehicle movement while the vehicle is stopped.

Ford has issued two separate recalls today, including one for the 2014 to 2016 Taurus and Explorer as well as the 2014 Edge, and another for the 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. The first recall, for a total of 15,587 U.S. vehicles, is to replace a link shaft bracket that could fracture and lead to a loss of power while driving or cause the parking function to fail leading to the vehicle rolling while in park. The second recall of the 2020 models, for a total of 10,905 U.S. vehicles, is for a driveshaft that could fracture along a welding seam, causing either unintentional vehicle movement or a loss of power when driving.

Spices From 2 Companies Are Being Recalled Over Salmonella Fears

Two different companies have issued recalls.

Two companies have issued recalls on their dried spices over fears that the products could contain salmonella, the FDA posted this month.

The first is Sauer Brands, Inc. which voluntarily recalled specific lot codes of more than two dozen spices by The Spice Hunter, including organic parsley, organic cinnamon, Madagascar cloves, gourmet sesame seeds, and more. This occurred because even after raw materials had tested negative for salmonella, the company’s supplier notified them of the presence of salmonella in some lots of organic parsley given to them.
