Fire destroys business in Butler County

Fire along Hicks Road

A large fire destroyed a business in Penn Township, Butler County, on Friday evening.

The building is along the 100 block of Hicks Road near Route 8. The building used to house a glass factory but witnesses said it was now home to Affordable Customs & Electronics.

Witnesses said the man who runs the business did repairs on small engines, such as the ones in go-karts. There were likely gas cans and other chemicals inside the shop.

The building went up in flames after the owner left for dinner. Multiple fire departments were at the scene for hours Friday night and were called out again Saturday morning when it rekindled.

Part of the building has collapsed. Firefighters are still investigating what started the fire.
