Fallen trees and power lines have been reported as gusty winds continue across the Pittsburgh area Friday morning.
In Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, a light pole fell on a parked car on Robinson Street. No injuries were reported.
A large tree fell in Shaler Township, crashing into a house on Belladonna Drive. The homeowner said she heard creaking and the wind just before the 60-foot-tall tree hit the house. No injuries were reported.
Gusts could be as strong as 50 mph in some spots, Pittsburgh’s Action Weather meteorologist Ashley Dougherty said. Winds are expected to die down later in the day.
Duquesne Light said it was prepared for potential power outages. The utility said it would be adding additional field crews through Saturday to address possible outages, and that crews were prepared to work around the clock to restore power. They also said they would continue to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
The terrorists have gotten the message: There is a new sheriff in town, and he won’t shoot.
After constant terrorist attacks under Obama, there were none on U.S. soil under Trump except of a quasi-terrorist attack using a toy paint gun on October 31, 2017. None in 2018, 2019, or 2020.
And now, barely two months into his presidency, Ahmad Alissa, a Syrian immigrant, shot ten people in Boulder, Colorado. While media tried to cover up the Jihadist motivation behind the killings, Alissa’s Facebook page featured quotes from Muhammad.
A study suggests that the mysterious, giant blobs hidden in the Earth’s mantle might be the remains of a protoplanet that crashed billions of years ago.

Footage captured exclusively by Fox Business Network shows National Guardsmen sleeping inside a Border Patrol truck while a group of migrants newly arrived in the U.S. wait to surrender to authorities.
Fox Business correspondent Hillary Vaughn and her cameraman Tyson Rohlfs were on the ground in Roma, Texas, early Tuesday, hours after a flood of migrants illegally entered the United States from Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Boatloads of people came ashore after ostensibly paying off drug cartels in Mexico to gain passage.
Discarded wristbands were found on the ground just up a sandy slope from the Rio Grande River. The wristbands, purchased from the drug cartels for as much as $25,000 apiece, were the migrants’ proof of contact and approval.
WASHINGTON — White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Wednesday said that she’s “not familiar” with a widely reported claim that a company associated with first son Hunter Biden received $3.5 million from the wife of Moscow’s former mayor, after being asked by The Post what the payment was for.
“I’m not familiar with that claim. It doesn’t sound like it’s backed up by a lot of evidence. If you have evidence or specifics, I’m happy to discuss it further,” Psaki said at her daily press briefing in response to a question from The Post.
Psaki said, referring to a report from the Senate Finance and Homeland Security committees that made the claim, “I’m not familiar with the report at all.”
The alleged 2014 payment was frequently cited during the presidential campaign last year. Then-President Donald Trump often raised it at public events including at campaign rallies and both presidential debates.
The claim was the subject of one of the most contentious moments of the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden, with a flustered Biden denying his son got the money and calling Trump a “clown.”
The Senate report, released in September, said the firm linked to Hunter Biden received $3.5 million from Elena Baturina, the widow of former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov. The senators said they did not know the purpose of the payment.
Bill Gates has predicted that the world will be “completely back to normal” from the COVID-19 pandemic by the end of 2022.
The Microsoft founder said the health crisis has been an “incredible tragedy,” but one bright spot has been the arrival of vaccines.
“By the end of 2022 we should be basically completely back to normal,” Gates said in an interview for Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and television broadcaster TVN24.
His wife, Melinda Gates, also provided a similar timeline earlier this month when asked when she believed global herd immunity could be reached against the virus.
Noting that vaccines probably won’t reach developing countries “en masse” until the end of this year, she said that “it’ll be sometime in 2022.”
“And boy, I think we’re all looking forward to that. There are a lot of people that are suffering, not just in the US but everywhere,” Melinda said on CNBC.
The couple has given at least $1.75 billion through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help the global fight against coronavirus.
Washington — President Biden on Thursday announced he is doubling his goal of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in his first 100 days in office, setting a new target of 200 million shots in the arms of Americans. Mr. Biden also said “my plan is to run for reelection” in 2024, although he warned that he can’t plan that far in advance.
Mr. Biden unveiled the vaccine plan and his reelection expectation during the first formal press conference after 64 days of his presidency, during which he faced questions on the challenges facing his administration in its early months.
“That’s right, 200 million shots in 100 days,” the president announced in opening remarks on his administration’s efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic. “I know it’s ambitious, twice our original goal, but no other country in the world has even come close, not even close to what we are doing and I believe we can do it.”
Mr. Biden initially set a goal of 100 million vaccine doses within his first 100 days, but the nation surpassed that number last week, on the 58th day of his administration. The president also highlighted his administration’s new $10 billion investment, announced earlier Thursday, to build confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine among minority communities and ensure equitable access to the shots.
After addressing the ongoing coronavirus crisis, Mr. Biden took questions on the immigration crisis at the southern border and whether he can successfully usher proposals on immigration reform, gun control, voting rights and climate change through Congress. While Democrats control the House, the Senate is evenly divided, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes.
The slim margins in the Senate have led to calls from progressives to eliminate or reform the filibuster rule, under which 60 votes are needed to end debate and move to a final vote on legislation.
“Let’s see what happens,” Mr. Biden said of his ability to address those four issues. “I’ve been hired to solve problems, not create division.”
Mr. Biden answered questions on foreign policy, including on the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and the ballistic missiles launched Thursday by North Korea.
Overall he did very well in his 59 minute news conference. In all, the President answered ten questions from reporters in the room. There was no mention of gun control after the recent mass shootings.

President Biden on Thursday will face reporters in a press briefing for the first time as president after weeks of media outlets clamoring to get a chance to grill him in the White House briefing room.
The press conference will come on the 64th day of his administration, following the passage of a massive $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill, an impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump and the confirmation of several of the president’s Cabinet secretaries.
It also comes amid a contentious situation at the southern border, an effort in the Senate to pass a major election reform bill and tensions between the Biden administration and progressive senators.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Biden is looking forward to speaking with the press during a briefing earlier this week.
The Secret Service intervened in an investigation into a 2018 incident involving Hunter Biden and his girlfriend at the time and former sister-in-law, Hallie, in which she took his gun and tossed it into the trash thinking he was going to kill himself with it, according to a report.
When she returned to retrieve the gun, it was gone, Politico reported on Thursday.
Police in Delaware launched an investigation in case the gun, left in a trash can across from a high school, had been used in a crime, the report said.
But Secret Service agents contacted the owner of the store where Hunter bought the gun and asked to take the paperwork recording the sale, Politico reported.
The owner, Ron Palmieri, at first balked at the request, suspecting they were attempting to hide Hunter’s ownership of the gun, but then ultimately complied and turned over the documents to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the government agency that oversees federal gun laws.
The Secret Service said it has no record of agents investigating the incident and said President Joe Biden was not under protection at the time.
Then, several days later, the gun was returned by a man who searches trash cans for recyclables.
The past week has been a tenuous one for GameStop (NYSE:GME) stock. Its earnings report proved less than stellar, missing estimates. Talks of a stock offering came the same day, worrying investors of a dilution of Class A common stock. However, much has happened since that is giving the company new life and new hope.

The suspect in the Boulder, Colo. grocery store shooting that left 10 people dead made his first appearance in court Thursday, in a brief hearing that called for a mental health assessment. Last night, hundreds of people gathered to mourn the victims and support those affected by the senseless gun violence.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, is facing 10 counts of murder in the first degree and one count of attempted murder over the horrific attack at a King Soopers supermarket. The victims include a police officer who responded to calls for help. The ages of those who died range from 20 to 65.
Alissa appeared in court alongside his attorney, Kathryn Herold of the Colorado Public Defender’s Office. Alissa wore a white face mask and what looked to be a purple hospital gown. Because of an injury to his leg, the suspected gunman was seated in a wheelchair.
“Our position is that we cannot do anything until we are able to fully assess Mr. Alissa’s mental illness,” Herold told the court as she requested a delay. She did not go into detail about what that illness might be.
House Democrats are expressing alarm that many people who are elderly, disabled or veterans are facing delays in receiving the $1,400 stimulus checks as part of the most recent COVID-19 relief package.

Senior members of the House Ways and Means Committee pressed the heads of the IRS and Social Security Administration (SSA) to offer a timeline this week for speeding up distribution.
New York State lawmakers struck a deal Wednesday to legalize marijuana, legislative sources said — just hours after Gov. Cuomo called the move “essential” to the state’s social and economic well-being.
The reform measures will be included in the laws that are set to be proposed as part of the state budget due on April 1, the sources said.
The deal would allow New Yorkers over the age of 21 to legally buy and possess up to three ounces of pot for their personal use, with sales by licensed dispensaries to begin as early as December 2022, sources said.
Recreational stoners could even cultivate up to six plants each, or a dozen per household, but a big bummer in the agreement would make them wait to start growing their own until 18 months after the first dispensary opens, the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle said.

Demetres Beck, 26, admitted to Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski that he and a friend, Kierre Simmons, participated in a robbery on Dec. 29, 2014.
According to Deputy District Attorney Ilan Zur, Beck and Simmons went to a home in North Braddock to buy marijuana that day, but then pulled guns and tried to rob the two men selling it.
Police said Beck pulled the trigger first, and the sellers had guns and returned fire.
Simmons, 25, of Shadyside, was killed.
Beck was ordered to serve 2-1/2 to five years in prison to be followed by three years probation.
Defense attorney Casey White said his client has already serve 55 months in custody.
During the hearing, Beck apologized to the court for his actions.
Pentagon, Washington (CNN)North Korea launched two ballistic missiles on Thursday, a senior US official told CNN citing an intelligence assessment — the second such launch in less than a week.
It is not known yet whether the missiles were short, medium or long range, such as an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The US military and intelligence community is still analyzing data from the test launch to determine what kind of missile was fired and how far it went.
The US tracks all North Korean weapons tests through radar and satellites, which are able to detect heat signatures of a missile launch almost immediately.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff told reporters North Korea had launched unidentified projectiles into the sea between the Korean Peninsula and Japan, adding it had stepped up surveillance and was “maintaining readiness in close cooperation with the US.”
