More Rite Aid locations closing, including in Pittsburgh

One month after announcing the closure of more than 150 stores nationwide, Rite Aid is adding 32 more to that list.

The company submitted a list of additional closures in a court filing. Two of those closures are in the Pittsburgh area: 623 Smithfield Street in downtown and 4934 Second Avenue in Hazelwood.

Nine stores are either closing or have already closed in the Pittsburgh region. The list includes these stores:

  • Stevenson Boulevard, New Kensington
  • Brighton Avenue, Rochester
  • Library Road, Bethel Park
  • University Boulevard, Moon Township
  • Saw Mill Run Boulevard, Pittsburgh
  • Keeport Drive, Baldwin Borough

Police, Fire, EMS Respond for Two-Vehicle Collision on the Liberty Bridge

Just before 11:30 p.m., Police. Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the Liberty Bridge for a two-vehicle collision.

A driver was headed inbound on the bridge when she attempted to make a lane change. The male driver of the vehicle she was trying to overtake swerved into the outbound lane, hitting a vehicle head on. Medics transported him to the hospital in critical condition after his vehicle flipped on its side.

The female driver of the outbound vehicle was transported to the hospital in serious condition. 

The Collision Investigation Unit responded to investigate. The driver of the first vehicle remained at the scene and provided information to police.

The bridge was closed to traffic while the investigation was underway.

Steelers offense has breakout day after OC’s exit

 

CINCINNATI — With 5:17 remaining in the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ first game since offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s dismissal, running back Najee Harris took a handoff from quarterback Kenny Pickett and cut to the outside.

With a 13-yard run, Harris carried the Steelers over 400 yards, a threshold they hadn’t seen in 58 regular-season games. Not only did the Steelers break that streak in their 16-10 win against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday — they also outgained an opponent (424 yards to the Bengals’ 222) for the first time all season.

At least 1 person hospitalized after rollover crash on the Liberty Bridge

PITTSBURGH — At least one person has been taken to a hospital after a crash on the Liberty Bridge in Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County dispatchers say they received the call for the crash at 11:17 p.m.

Channel 11 observed a white jeep on its side on the bridge. Another vehicle sat on the other side of the road with heavy damage.

BENTLEYVILLE, Pa. — Bentleyville police are looking for a woman they say has nearly a dozen active warrants in several local counties.

According to police, Megan Lynn Trombetta has 11 active warrants in Washington, Fayette and Westmoreland counties.

Trombetta is known to frequent Uniontown, Belle Vernon and Monessen, according to police.

Vehicle crashes into house in Pittsburgh, Knoxville

Emergency dispatchers confirmed one person was taken to the hospital.

No one in the house was injured. The driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to a statement from Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Impact Day on Tuesday: Rain and wind expected in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh’s Action Weather meteorologist Ashley Dougherty said Tuesday will be an Impact Day in Pittsburgh.

In the Certified Most Accurate Forecast, Dougherty said rain and wind will be the major issues on Tuesday.

Dougherty also said high temperatures are expected to be in the 40s for the next eight days.

Man arrested at auto parts store for role in Allegheny County shooting

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A man wanted on an arrest warrant from the Allegheny County Police Department was arrested at an auto shop in Wilkinsburg on Tuesday.

According to a news release, Montrez Blanks was wanted in connection with a shooting on Wood Street in Wilkinsburg, where a man was found shot in the head.

Sheriff’s deputies went to the Auto Zone in Wilkinsburg where they believed the 32-year-old suspect worked.

Two of four blue outdoor mail collection boxes likely will be removed as early as this week along Greensburg’s South Pennsylvania Avenue, across the street from the post office. Hundreds of Pittsburghers plan to travel to D.C. Tuesday to join March for Israel

Event organizers expect close to 100,000 people.

WASHINGTON — Hundreds of people from Pittsburgh are preparing to head to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday to show their support for Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

The March for Israel is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. at the National Mall.

“This will be one of the largest rallies on behalf of Israel that the Jewish community has organized,” said Brian Schreiber, the Chief External Affairs Officer for the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh.

PNC Bank acknowledges customer transaction issues

Several local PNC Bank customers reached out to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 to report that their bank accounts were charged large amounts of money after they pumped gas over the weekend, and they have not been reimbursed.

“I used my debit card in the reader, and then that night I got declined buying something else,” said Julie Remaley “I checked my bank account and there were three separate charges, one for $126, one for $13 and one for 11 totaling $165 of charges, and I only got $26 worth of gas.”

Remaley said a PNC Bank representative told her that the charge was was a hold, placed by gas stations to guarantee their bill will be covered. Holds are typically charged once and immediately reimbursed.

Michelle Tenk also filled up at a local gas station on Saturday, and noticed similar charged.

“I had had multiple charges on my account, and when I looked, there were two identical holds, $126, along with my gas charge,” said Tenk.

Tenk also uses PNC Bank.

In a statement, a spokesperson for PNC Bank wrote:

PNC is aware of an issue impacting a limited number of customers in which certain transactions are pending more than once. Our teams are engaged and working to resolve the issue, and these pending transactions will be corrected on customers’ accounts as soon as possible.

The NOAA released its annual predictions for snowfall across the United States, showing that a moderate-to-strong El Niño winter could lead to less snow across the north.

Pittsburgh medics respond to 15 calls at Acrisure Stadium during Steelers game, 3 hospitalized

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh medics had a busy day during the Steelers game on Sunday.

Three people were taken to the hospital during the game.

Medics say they were requested for 12 other calls at the stadium.
