The fire was reported around 3 a.m.
The tractor-trailer appeared to be hauling several packages on pallets.No injuries were reported.

The fire was reported a little after 4:15 a.m. on the 700 block of California Drive.
Washington County 911 officials said the fire was upgraded to a second alarm.
No injuries were reported.

Firefighters worked to quell a large fire at a scrap yard on Neville Island, Allegheny County on Wednesday evening.
Calls about the fire began at about 4:15 p.m., according to Allegheny County dispatch.
The location of the fire is Metalico Pittsburgh on Grand Avenue.
No injuries have been reported, dispatch said, though no other information was available at the time.

Arson investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that left one person hurt in McKeesport.
The fire was reported a little after 4 a.m. Wednesday at a building in the area of May Street and Fifth Avenue.
The extent of the injuries to the person hurt is unknown.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Thirteen people were displaced after a fire over Jack’s Bar on the South Side.
It happened on East Carson and 12th Street Monday evening. The owner of Jack’s says the front part of the bar was not damaged, though the backroom sustained heavy smoke and water damage. The front portion of the bar will reopen on Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.
Pittsburgh Public Safety says thirteen people on the residential floors were displaced, but are all accounted for. Firefighters saved a kitten from inside one of the apartments and gave it some oxygen before reuniting it with its owner.
“I tried everything I could to find my cat and I couldn’t do it,” Pete said. “I couldn’t see. I couldn’t breathe. So I had to go out the window.
“I couldn’t believe it. I thought she was lost because there was so much smoke in my apartment and I thought she probably died of smoke inhalation.”
Fire officials say the majority of the damage is to the top floor of the building.
As the crews battled the flames, police worked to keep people back while a section of East Carson Street was shut down.
Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Chief Darryl Jones said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross is helping at least 10 people.

SALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Two people were killed in a house fire in Westmoreland County on Sunday.
The fire was reported at a home on the 1600 block of Route 819 in Salem Township at around 12:53 a.m.
The Westmoreland County Coroner’s office identified the victims as 57-year-old David Staats and 84-year-old Helena Staats.
“When we arrived the house was fully involved– flames coming out of every window,” said Forbes Road Fire Chief Bob Rosatti.
Rosatti said that the roof collapsed moments after the firefighter’s arrival and they were unable to enter due to the flames.
“There were two vehicles in the driveway which lead us to believe that there was somebody in there, but given the conditions of the fire there was nothing we could have done,” he said.
Once crews were able to knock the initial fire down and make the conditions somewhat safer, they were able to get closer to the home, according to Rosatti.
“We brought an aerial apparatus in and it was putting water down from the top and we found one victim,” he said. “We had to have an excavator come in and remove the debris from the structure to find the second victim.”
The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, but Rosatti said he doesn’t believe it was suspicious.

A fire that broke out in a chicken coop spread to a home in Westmoreland County on Friday morning.
The fire broke out around 2:15 a.m. at a house on the 300 block of Rustin Lane in East Huntingdon Township.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Multiple fire departments from central Westmoreland County responded to a fire that damaged four apartments Friday afternoon in Greensburg, according to 911 dispatchers.
“We had a lot of damage,” Greensburg Fire Chief Tom Bell said. “The homeowners are both alive and we got two cats out as well.”
The call initially came in as a tree on electric utility wires near a residence on Grant Street. West Penn Power crews were called, but it developed into a fire about 2:30 p.m., according to a dispatch supervisor.

The fire happened at Pesaro’s Pizza, located in the 4300 block of Butler Street. Kickback Pinball Cafe, located next door, sustained some smoke damage.
The owner’s son told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that his father plans to rebuild and get back to business.
He also said firefighters believe it was an electrical fire that started in the ceiling.

The flames started around 10:30 a.m. at a home on Georges Street in Washington Township.
A man in his 80s lived at the home and told Channel 11 that a wood burner had malfunctioned.

A massive fire broke out at an apartment complex in San Antonio Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The blaze began around 1 p.m. at the complex in Bexar County, KSTAT reported.
Residents recalled they received an alert to turn off their water heater, and the fire erupted on the second floor moments later, fire officials said.
About 50 residents were evacuated from the building.

Employees at Ocean Treasures in the North Hills are raising money to help their co-workers following a four-alarm fire in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood on Monday.
General manager Jennifer Butler told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that Willis Hurt and Evan Russell learned about the fire while at work on Monday. They had just moved into the building in January, according to Butler.
“They’re in better spirits today and you know I’ve told them we started the GoFundMe so that we can try to do more,” she said. “If one of us is in need of something then we need to be there to help each other.”Click here for the GoFundMe page.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The attorney for a Johnstown area man who admitted to setting fire to a vacant Johnstown building that he was helping renovate for a management company that had owned the building says his client accepted responsibility as he was sentenced Thursday to an additional 30 months in federal prison and is ordered to pay more than $1.3 million in restitution.
Mark Hutchison, 35, was one of two men charged with igniting the Fairfield Avenue complex on Dec. 12, 2018. Investigators say the building had been purchased by a New York-based company from Citrona Homes, LLC in Florida and was undergoing renovations.
“Mark accepted responsibility for his role in this incident from the outset,” said Art McQuillan, Hutchison’s attorney. “We respect the sentence the court imposed.”

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man was killed and two firefighters were injured after a fire broke out at a home in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood.
Pittsburgh firefighters were battling a fire with heavy smoke at a home on Knox Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Pittsburgh Public Safety sent out an alert asking people to avoid the area.

The biggest issue fighting the fire was that the stairway to the second floor collapsed. Firefighters had to use a ladder to try to get to the man stuck on the second floor, but did not get to him in time.
Chief Darryl Jones says unfortunately firefighters found that man dead on the second floor. They can’t yet say how many people lived in the home, but know one woman did manage to escape.

Two firefighters were injured — one with a groin injury and the other with a twisted ankle.
The home next door is separated by only a few inches, but miraculously the flames didn’t spread.
There’s been no word on the fire’s cause.

PITTSBURGH —Part of a historic building in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood collapsed as firefighters battled a massive 4-alarm fire for several hours on Monday.
Public Safety officials said East Carson Street between 10th and 12th streets will be closed overnight.
Officials said the building, located in the 1100 block of East Carson Street, is considered structurally unsound by the Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections.
Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich said the building will be demolished on Tuesday if it doesn’t come down on its own Monday night.
Pittsburgh fire Chief Darryl Jones said no one was injured in the fire and no one is missing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The building was home to the South Side Chamber of Commerce offices, a barbershop and six apartments.

A fire broke out at The Log Cabin Restaurant on East State Road shortly before 11 p.m.
Crews cleared the scene within a couple of hours.No injuries were reported.

State police are investigating after one person was killed in a fire in Somerset County.
The fire broke out Saturday on the 1100 block of Old Forbes Road in Stoystown.
State police said the structure that caught fire is a total loss.
The person who was found dead has not been identified.

he Luxor Volunteer Fire Department station near Twin Lakes Park in Hempfield will close as part of Luxor’s merger with nearby Bovard fire department.
With only three members on its force, Luxor Chief Mike Errett said the move is necessary to provide adequate fire protection for the community.
“Overall, it’s going to be better fire service for the community, that’s how I honestly feel,” Errett said. “That’s intentionally what we all want. That’s just hard to do with minimal people.”
When the Luxor station closes, equipment and funds will be split between Bovard and the Hannastown Volunteer Fire Department, Errett said. The property, which was split between two parcels, is owned by the Luxor Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association.

A large fire broke out Thursday inside the sprawling complex of the Serum Institute of India, the world’s biggest vaccine manufacturer.
Images from Reuters partner ANI showed smoke billowing out of a building in SII’s massive complex in the western city of Pune, in southern Maharashtra state.
“Thank you everyone for your concern and prayers,” SII CEO Adar Poonawalla said on Twitter. “So far the most important thing is that there have been no lives lost or major injuries due to the fire, despite a few floors being destroyed.”
He added in a later tweet: “I would like to reassure all governments & the public that there would be no loss of #COVISHIELD production due to multiple production buildings that I had kept in reserve to deal with such contingencies at @SerumInstIndia.”
Officials said at least five fire trucks had been sent to fight the blaze at the building, which a source described to Reuters as an “under-construction vaccine plant.”

Two people got out safely after a fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at a home in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue in Carnegie.
According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette news partner KDKA, a mother and her adult son were able to safely get out of the home that caught fire.
A neighbor who lives in one of the nearby houses told KDKA her house had smoke and water damage.
The Red Cross arrived at the scene to assist both families, KDKA said.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

A vehicle thought to be involved in an armed carjacking crashed and caught fire early Saturday in Pittsburgh’s East End, the city Department of Public Safety said.
Officers had spotted the vehicle and began following it just after 2 a.m., the department said. The carjacking occurred earlier in the evening on Race Street, according to the department.
“When [officers] activated their lights and sirens, the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed well ahead of the officers,” then crashed at East Liberty Boulevard and Frankstown Avenue, the department said in a statement. The intersection is at the border of East Liberty and Larimer.
Police extinguished flames and extricated the driver and passenger — both men — after the vehicle caught fire, according to the department. Medics took the driver and passenger to a hospital with unknown injuries, the department said.
An investigation was continuing.
