One dead after officer-involved shooting in Lawrence County

Sources tell Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 the shooting was fatal.

While police followed the vehicle, the driver began firing shots through the back windshield of his own car into the police car.

Officials said there was a short pursuit, followed by an exchange of gunfire.

The suspect was shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials said two Pennsylvania State Police officers and a New Wilmington police officer were involved in the shooting.

Officials said the suspect had ammunition “mainly used to penetrate body armor” and multiple weapons with high-capacity rounds.

The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.

State Police Probe Explosive Device Found In Derry Twp. « CBS Pittsburgh

State Police in Westmoreland County are looking for the person who left an apparent explosive device in a Derry Township man’s yard.

DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — State Police in Westmoreland County are looking for the person who left an apparent explosive device in a Derry Township man’s yard.

Police were called to Longview Court around 2:45 p.m. Monday afternoon for a caller who reported that “there appeared to a pipe in his yard that he thought might be rigged up as a bomb.”

PSP Greensburg received a report of a suspicious device located in the yard at 568 Longview Court Derry Twp. As a precaution a “bomb squad” was called. Currently the device is contained and no one else needs evacuated. We will provide additional information tomorrow morning.

According to state police, the trooper who responded to the scene, took some photos of the device from a safe distance, which were then analyzed and then the call went out for the bomb squad to respond.

Bomb Squad Probes Suspicious Package Outside PNC Park « CBS Pittsburgh

 

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police and the bomb squad investigated a possible suspicious package outside of PNC Park during the Pittsburgh Pirates game Wednesday evening.

Pittsburgh Police cordoned off the area at the corner of Federal Street and W. General Robinson, near the Roberto Clemente Bridge, around 6 p.m.

Cops charge girl with bringing pocket knife to Indiana Co. high school | TribLIVE

 

Officials learned of the knife at 12:40 p.m. at Penns Manor High School in Cherryhill Township, in eastern Indiana County. Police said the knife was confiscated without incident.

The girl, whose age was not provided by police, is being charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds. The charge will be handled through juvenile court.

Dispatch: Officer-involved shooting in Miamisburg | Ohio

 

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – An armed robbery suspect is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was shot by police in Miamisburg Tuesday.

Police say investigators from Dearborn County, Indiana contacted law enforcement in Dayton about a man they believed was involved in an armed robbery in Indiana.

Officials tracked the man to the Red Roof Inn on Byers Road near State Route 725 Tuesday evening.

Police say they were working on a plan to take the man into custody when he unexpectedly walked out of his room.

According to authorities, when he saw officers, he started running.

Police say they opened fire when the man pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers.

Police describe the suspect as a 38-year-old man from Dayton. They say at this time, they are not releasing his name.

Officials say this is an ongoing investigation.

Suspect In YouTube Shooting Angry That Her Videos Had Been ‘De-Monitized’

Police say a female suspect, identified as Nasim Aghdam, 39, died at the scene of the shooting. A San Francisco hospital received three wounded people from the incident, a spokesman says.

A woman with an apparent grudge against YouTube for what she claimed was censoring and “de-monitizing” her videos, opened fire at the video-sharing service’s San Bruno, Calif., headquarters, wounding several people before fatally shooting herself, according to police.

Police Chief Ed Barberini said the attack was carried out with a handgun and that it was being investigated as a domestic dispute.

Later, law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Nasim Najafi Aghdam, 39; however The San Jose Mercury News listed her age as 38.

The San Bruno Police Department is investigating a motive for this shooting. At this
time there is no evidence that the shooter knew the victims of this shooting or that
individuals were specifically targeted.

16-year-old boy dies after being shot in Duquesne | TribLIVE

 

Allegheny County Police said they believe the 16-year-old’s wound was self-inflicted in the 400 block of Hamilton Street before 7 p.m. Saturday.

First responders found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Trib news partner WPXI-TV reported that the boy was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died.

NORTH HILLS (KDKA) — Police want your help identifying a man suspected of eating and drinking at restaurants in the North Hills and then skipping out without paying the check.

And it turns out, he may have struck again Monday night.

The manager of the North Park Lounge in McCandless believes man who skipped out on the bill is the same man whose picture was posted by Indiana Township Police on Facebook.

 

Indiana Township Police believe a man has skipped out at Il Pizzaiolo, B.J.’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Bonefish Grill and the Middle Road Inn.

“He just ordered a coffee and then all of sudden he was gone,” said Middle Road Inn owner Natalie Fezza. “And I was like, ‘No, he didn’t leave!’ So we were waiting and waiting, and we left his stuff sit, and he was gone.”

Police report that he drives a gold Honda CRV, has a tinted license plate frame and smokes Marlboro Red.

Indiana Township Police are looking for any information that might help identify this guy.

PITTSBURGH DRUG BUST: Police seize over $100k in narcotics, weapons in Pittsburgh drug bust; 3 arrested

Three people are facing charges after over $100,000 worth of narcotics was seized during a drug bust in Pittsburgh’s Fineview neighborhood Friday night, Pittsburgh police said.

According to a news release, police located and seized the following items from the home:

  • Three firearms (one 9 mm handgun and two .40 caliber handguns)
  • 2 kilograms of cocaine
  • 50 bricks of heroin
  • 18 grams of raw heroin
  • 1 ounce of loose cocaine
  • 43 grams of fentanyl
  • 10 ounces of marijuana
  • 2 ounces of crack cocaine
  • Hundreds of unused stamp bags of heroin

Police also found approximately $18,000 in cash, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition, authorities said.

Two people were transported to Memorial Medical Center on Sunday, following a three-vehicle crash on Broad Street.

Johnstown Fire Department Assistant Chief Bob Statler said the crash occurred after a Volkswagen sedan rear-ended a Jeep that was at Broad Street’s Fourth Avenue intersection preparing to turn.

 Both injured passengers were traveling in the Jeep, Statler said. Another sedan was also struck but sustained minor damage.

An argument over religion on Easter Sunday allegedly prompted a Chicago man to pull a handgun on two people at the Hempfield Heights Apartment complex that led to them calIing 911 and state police responding.

Antoine D. Drew, 39, was arraigned Monday before Hempfield District Judge Mark Mansour on multiple criminal charges.

Mansour ordered Drew held in the Westmoreland County Prison on $100,000 bond. with tentatively setting a preliminary hearing on April 13.

Police: 3 Break Into Brookline Home, Assault Resident « CBS Pittsburgh

Police say three people reportedly forced their way into the home and assaulted the resident. All three got away with undetermined items.

The resident was treated at the scene for minor injuries, but refused to go to the hospital.

According to police, the three suspects remain at large.

CONNELLSVILLE (KDKA) — A man who police know as the “ham-burglar” had to be rescued after his arrest Saturday when he tried to make a break for it by jumping into a river.

Shawn Prince, 21, gave everyone, including himself, quite a scare Saturday morning after reportedly jumping in the Youghiogheny River.

He was trying to get away from police, who had handcuffed Prince for bench warrants out against him.

Two Florida teenagers were busted last week after trying to steal a Domino’s pizza delivery car but could not figure out how to drive stick.

Two Florida boys attempted to take their food to go last week but didn’t get very far.

Rojelio Sebastian, 14, and Miguel Garcia, 12, were busted last week after attempting to steal a Domino’s delivery man’s car but their plan foiled upon learning the car was a stick shift, the Miami Herald reported.

The boys attempted their plan last Friday after a Domino’s delivery driver, Issac Javier Ortez, was bringing a pie to Garcia’s neighbor.

Texas woman sentenced to 5 years in prison for illegally voting in 2016 election – ABC News

 

Crystal Mason was sentenced to five years in prison this week after she voted in the 2016 election while on parole, according to Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA. Mason was on parole after serving time for a federal tax crime, her lawyer said.

“She had a good faith belief she could vote legally and she did so,” Mason’s attorney Warrent St. John told WFAA.
