Fiat Chrysler recalls more than 550,000 pickups, SUVs | Fox Business

DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler is recalling more than 550,000 pickup trucks and SUVs worldwide because the windshield wiper arms can come loose and stop the wipers from working properly.

The recall covers certain 2019 and 2020 Ram 1500 pickups, 1500 Classic pickups and Jeep Compass SUVs. Documents posted Tuesday by the U.S. government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say loose wiper arms can reduce a driver’s visibility.

Fiat Chrysler says in a statement that it has no reports of crashes or injuries from the problem. Most of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S. and Canada.

Owners will be notified later this month and dealers will tighten the wiper nuts to fix the problem. Customers whose wipers don’t clear the windshield or return to the rest position after being turned off should contact dealers.

BEAVER COUNTY POLICE CHASE: Woman arrested after chase, crash into 2 police vehicles | WPXI

A woman was arrested Tuesday morning after her SUV crashed into two police vehicles following a chase in Beaver County, authorities said.

Authorities said the woman was followed for about 25 miles as she zigzagged through traffic, nearly hitting a school bus and other cars and traveling upward of 80 mph at times.

“She definitely posed a threat the several times she went through areas. There were people moving on the side of the streets that I could see while we were chasing her,” Aliquippa police Sgt. Steven Roberts said.

The woman arrested was wanted on multiple arrest warrants in the county, police said, and she appeared to be intoxicated. Officials said she refused to take a blood test or Breathalyzer.

After the woman’s SUV hit the police vehicles — one from Center Township and the other from Aliquippa — additional police vehicles helped block her in, officials said.

The woman is facing charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

No injuries were reported.

Colorado Highway Crash: Fiery 28-Vehicle Pileup Closes I-70 Near Denver : NPR

The crash involved at least 24 cars and four semis. One of the trucks was carrying a flatbed full of lumber — which contributed to a large fire on the roadway.

Six people were taken to the hospital, including the driver of the semi. That driver, who sustained minor injuries, is now in police custody and is being charged with multiple counts of vehicular homicide, Countryman said. Police did not identify the driver, other than to say he’s not from Colorado.

Parts of I-70 remain closed Friday morning — and highway officials say it isn’t likely to open until sometime Saturday. The closure caused long delays in the morning commute, with investigators still combing the area, and workers trying to clean up debris in the eastbound lanes where the crash took place. Westbound lanes are also closed, with motorists using a detour to avoid a bridge where the greatest damage occurred.

Ohio authorities are investigating how a sixteen-year-old student was crushed to death in the back of a minivan at a school parking lot despite calling 911 two times with his exact location.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is launching an investigation into the death of 16-year-old Kyle Plush, whose body was discovered by his father six hours after he called 911 begging for help and giving dispatchers the correct description of the minivan and his location.

According to audio recordings, Plush called 911 at least twice Tuesday afternoon while he was trapped in the 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan outside Seven Hills School. The third-row seat flipped and had him pinned inside.

“I’m going to die here,” the sophomore told the dispatcher during his first 911 call, which was placed shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. “I probably don’t have much time left. Tell my mom I love her if I die.”
