Popular Pittsburgh TV News Anchor Abruptly Departs Station

One day the news anchor was there at the station. The next day, the news anchor was not.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Royce Jones, a reporter and anchor for KDKA-TV and sister station WPKD-TV, has left the station.

KDKA/WPKD news director Shawn Hoder announced the move in a tersely worded email to staff last week, Triblive reported. No explanation was given for the departure, and Jones made no reference to it on his Facebook page, and there no longer is any reference to him on the KDKA website.

Jones is a 2016 graduate of Valley High School in New Kensington and a 2020 graduate of Point Park University. He joined KDKA as a freelance reporter in 2020 after working for WTRF-TV in Wheeling as a multimedia journalist and weekend anchor.
