PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are investigating after an overnight shooting on the South Side.
According to a social media post, police responded to a shots fired call at 4 a.m. Saturday, near the intersection of S 17th Street and East Carson Street.
A male ran into the Cambod-Ican Kitchen restaurant to call 911 and take cover when he was struck in the leg by a stray bullet. Owners of the restaurant told Channel 11 that the victim was hit in an artery in his leg as the shooter shot into the establishment.
Owners also said there were between 15 and 20 customers in the restaurant at the time of the shooting. Six bullet holes were seen on the property.The shooting in Pittsburgh’s South Side came just after city officials announced that they would be increasing police presence in the area in an attempt to lower the levels of gun violence happening there.
