2 people in critical condition, 1 stable after triple shooting in Hill District, Pittsburgh police say

Police said officers and EMS responded to the area of Wylie Avenue and Mahon Street after ShotSpotter detected 26 rounds.

The shooting happened in the area of Wylie Avenue and Mahon Street in the Middle Hill.

Police said a ShotSpotter alert detected 26 rounds. Some cars and houses were also hit by stray bullets.

“I have a teenager, I have a young adult, and I have a little one. That could’ve easily hit one of them,” neighbor Crystal White said.

Police said when officers arrived at the scene they found one victim, then found two other victims shortly after and rendered aid until paramedics arrived.

“It seems like after they were shot maybe they went somewhere to try to get aid,” Assistant Pittsburgh Public Safety PIO, Maurice Matthews said.

Madeline Millender said her once-quiet street is too often the scene of gun violence.

“I don’t know what they’re up to, but we are trying to live safe,” Millender said. “I look forward to everybody’s safety, and I hope they are looking forward to my safety.”

Police have not determined what led up to the shooting. No suspects have been identified.
