Second public hearing on Pittsburgh’s potential annexation Wilkinsburg is set for Thursday | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

For the second time since the idea of annexing the borough of Wilkinsburg was voted down by Pittsburgh City Council, council members will hold a public hearing on the prospect of that annexation.

The meeting will take place Thursday at the Homewood-Brushton YMCA in Councilman Ricky Burgess’ district, which borders Wilkinsburg.

Council rejected the annexation in February, after being mandated by a court order to have the vote, though that hasn’t meant the end for the possibility of Wilkinsburg joining the city.

At the time, council members committed to studying the issue further, which could include five more public hearings, two of which will be in Wilkinsburg if approved by leadership.
