SWAT called after shooting in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood – WPXI

PITTSBURGH — An hour-long SWAT incident concluded early Saturday morning after a man who police believe fired several shots was taken into custody in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood.

The incident occurred in the 4500 block of Torley Street just before 3:30 a.m., when police responded to a ShotSpotter activation for multiple rounds fired.

There police found spent shell casings in the area and tried to make contact with the resident, but were unsuccessful. Friends and family members told police that there were several firearms available inside the home and that the male was in crisis, and SWAT and negotiators responded.

More than two hours after police were called, the man came to the door and surrendered. He was evaluated by tactical medics before being taken to receive the assistance he needs, police said.
