Fire crews and police responded to a serious car crash in Hempfield on Saturday evening.

The crash, which occurred on the 400 block of Agnew Road, was reported around 5:45 p.m.

Agnew Road was closed from Route 30 into Jeannette, according to a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher.

The dispatcher said he did not know what caused the wreck and could not confirm whether anyone had been injured.

Reports from the scene indicated that the vehicle went over an embankment and landed upside down in a creek.

No further information on how many injuries or the extent of injuries were provided by county dispatch or state police at this time.

The City of Jeannette Fire Department posted on Facebook earlier about a traffic alert stating Agnew Road was closed from Mary Street to Route 30 for an extended period of time. Grapeville Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.

Around 8:40 p.m., a truck was towed from the scene and first responders started to clear. Traffic cones were laid out near the crash scene on the side of the road.
