UPS set to hire some 350 people at New Stanton facility | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

UPS says it’s seeking to fill thousands of job openings across the county, including at least 350 in the Pittsburgh area at its sortation center in New Stanton, Westmoreland County.

The jobs are permanent, part-time package handling positions on multiple shifts with benefits, starting at up to $17 per hour, the package delivery giant said Tuesday.

The company tied the need for more part-time workers to the rapid growth of e-commerce coupled with an overall increase in demand.

Part-time positions can be a good way to secure a full time job with the company, UPS said, noting that roughly 120,000 part-time employees have transitioned to full-time or management positions.

Benefits for part-timers include health care coverage, retirement contributions, tuition assistance and a discounted stock purchase program.

Overall, Atlanta-based UPS employs about 540,000 people.
