BEAVER, Pa. —
Pennsylvania State Police on Thursday announced charges against a trooper in Beaver County who investigators said tried to withdraw a traffic citation that was issued by another trooper.
Trooper Trask Alexander, 29, is charged with tampering with records or identification, tampering with public records or information and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, state police said.
“Trooper Alexander is accused of attempting to withdraw a traffic citation that had been issued by another trooper to an acquaintance of Alexander’s in November 2020,” police said in a statement.According to court papers, Alexander filled out a Request For Withdrawal form, three days after his friend was cited. Investigators say Alexander used his friend’s last name and partial citation number, then listed the reason for the withdrawal as “wrong defendant was selected for citation” before faxing it to the court. According to court papers, court officials noticed that the signature did not match the issuing trooper, and notified him of the request.
State police said Alexander is suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the case and an internal investigation.
Alexander is assigned to the patrol section of Troop D in Beaver.
