Westmoreland County Courthouse will be closed until Jan. 4, except by appointment only

GREENSBURG, Pa. —The Westmoreland County Courthouse will be closed to the public — except by appointment — starting Monday and continuing until Jan. 4, county commissioners said Friday.

The move was prompted by the recent surge in COVID-19 cases and the mitigation orders from the governor’s office and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, commissioners said.

The county said the closure will not affect anyone who has a scheduled court appearance.”Members of the general public who wish to conduct business should contact individual row offices and departments to make an appointment,” the county said.

Also, drop boxes for the register of wills and the recorder of deeds will be available in the main lobby of the courthouse.Earlier this week, the county put jury trials on hold until at least Feb. 1.
