Pittsburgh activist charged with assault in pepper-spraying incident – News – The Times – Beaver, PA

AMBRIDGE — A Pittsburgh-based activist is facing more than a dozen charges after police say she pepper-sprayed a family outside of their Ambridge home.

Dena Stanley, 35, of 252 Butler St. in Pittsburgh, is facing 14 charges, including several counts of felony aggravated assault, following an Oct. 29 incident.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to 1027 Beaver Road in response to reports of an assault late last month.

Cecilia Melvin said she and her two children, 15 and 7 years old, were pepper-sprayed and assaulted by Stanley — someone she claims to have never met — following an argument between Stanley’s niece and Melvin’s family.
