Police unleash tear gas as protesters take to the street in Paris | TheHill

Paris police reportedly used tear gas on Saturday to break up demonstrators protesting French President Emmanuel Macron’s government and what they say is economic injustice.

Police donned riot gear and attempted to disperse the crowds with tear gas in several areas, including the iconic Champs-Elysees avenue, which have banned protests this weekend, the AP reports.

More than 7,000 police officers have been deployed to thwart the demonstrations, which have been banned in other places such as the presidential palace, the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame Cathedral.
