More search crews deployed to look for plane off East Coast

Officials say five people were on board the Piper PA-31 aircraft, which departed from the Robert F. Swinnie airport in Georgetown County on Thursday morning and then disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean. The flight was bound for the Bahamas.

The names of the passengers or pilot haven’t been released.

The Coast Guard has two cutters and aircraft from the Elizabeth City, North Carolina, air station searching. A Navy P-3 Orion plane is also helping.

Eighth child dies at New Jersey rehabilitation facility

An eighth child died Friday afternoon following a monthlong adenovirus outbreak at rehabilitation center in New Jersey, the state’s Department of Health said.

The child, already fragile and suffering respiratory illness, was not confirmed to have the common infection, health officials said. They’re awaiting test results.

Seven other children have died and 16 others who have survived all contracted adenovirus while being treated at the Wanaque Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Haskell, according to the Department of Health.

here were two Powerball winners, one from Iowa and one from New York, the lottery announced early Sunday The jackpot’s winning numbers selected Saturday night were 8, 12, 13, 19 and 27 and the Powerballl was 4.

The jackpot was downcasted slightly to $687.8 million, down from the Powerball’s earlier estimate of $750 million.

Winners have the chance between a lump sum or getting the money yearly for the rest of their lives. The two winning tickets will split the jackpot, Powerball said in a release.

The last Powerball winning jackpot was Aug. 11.

The odds of winning a jackpot remain abysmal at 1 in 302 million for Mega Millions and 1 in 292.2 million for Powerball.

World leaders offer condolences for victims of synagogue attack – CNN

(CNN)The massacre of 11 people at a synagogue in Pittsburgh was felt around the nation and the globe.

Leaders from across the world issued statements of condolences.
Here are some of their comments:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a video statement, posted to Twitter.
“The entire people of Israel grieve with the families of the dead,” he said. “We stand together with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh. We stand together with the American people in the face of this horrendous anti-Semitic brutality.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the hearts of his nation’s people are with the Jewish community.
“May the families of those murdered be comforted, and may the injured recover quickly and fully,” he wrote on Twitter.

Shooting at Pittsburgh synagogue kills 11 – International news – Jerusalem Post

The shooter killed at least 11 people, including one of the police officers who rushed to the scene, and injured several others. He began his attack shortly after the beginning of services at the Tree of Life Synagogue. As a family gathered there for a brit milah, the man began shooting people throughout the first floor and basement of the facility, until he surrendered to the police after a shootout, declaring to them that “all these Jews need to die.”
