Prescription drugs keep popping up in dietary supplements – BGR

If you choose to take an over-the-counter supplement for weight loss, muscle building, or even sexual enhancement you probably trust what it says on the bottle. The labels are often filled with vitamins, minerals, and other substances meant to make you look or feel better, but you might also be getting something you never intended.

A new study published in JAMA Network Open offers an all-encompassing look at instances of prescription drugs being found in many different supplements, and it happens with startling regularity. A shocking 20% of supplements tested by the Food and Drug Administration was found to contain prescription medications that had no business being included.

Call of Duty Blackout abandons battle royale’s roots as a survival game

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched last night without a traditional single-player campaign. In its place there’s a new mode called Blackout, a battle royale-style game based loosely on hit titles such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite. Many expected the mode, a collaboration between Treyarch and Raven Software, to be a quick cut-and-paste job. After spending a few hours with the final product, it’s clear that’s not the case.

Not only is Blackout a rock-solid online experience, the game has its own unique style of play. It deviates from the traditional model of the battle royale genre, all but abandoning its roots as a survival game.

Growing up, Shirley Musick had two voices to contend with.

One was calling her to Christian ministry. The other — her parents’ — was suggesting perhaps a more practical path.

For a long time, the latter voice won out.

She got married, raised a family and worked several jobs, including 13 years in the Excela Health billing office.

Then, in 2013, she had a conversation with her pastor that dramatically changed her path.

Her pastor, the Rev. Cindy Parker, noticed a certain look in Musick’s eyes every time she preached at Christ United Church of Christ, Latrobe. Parker asked her the reason for the look.

Now, years later, Musick is scheduled to be installed as Trinity UCC pastor Nov. 4.

Musick points to the 2001 hiring of Parker as Christ Church’s first female pastor as a turning point in her own spiritual journey.
