SYRACUSE, N.Y. — As the sun rose Friday morning in Syracuse, police officers climbed ladders looking for bullets lodged in the sides of Midland Avenue homes.
Five people — including an 8-year-old girl — were shot around 9 p.m. Thursday outside of 1315-17 Midland Ave. during a memorial service for a man who died of cancer. Officers spent over 11 hours at the chaotic scene, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
All five victims are in stable condition and are expected to recover, said Sgt. Richard Helterline, a Syracuse Police Department spokesman. Police are searching for suspects.
