McCain buried in Annapolis – POLITICO

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Sen. John McCain’s final journey ended Sunday on a grassy hill at the U.S. Naval Academy within view of the Severn River and earshot of midshipmen present and future, and alongside a lifelong friend.

A horse-drawn caisson carrying the senator’s casket led a procession of mourners from the academy’s chapel to its cemetery following a private service. The senator’s widow, Cindy, and his children were among those who walked behind the caisson. Joining them were family and friends as well as members of McCain’s Class of 1958, military leaders and academy midshipmen.

How the Hogwarts Express was saved from a Welsh scrapyard – BBC News

The real-life story of the Hogwarts Express is almost as magical as the engine itself.

Emerging from the clouds of steam engulfing platform nine and three-quarters, the gleaming Hogwarts Express commands a special place in the hearts of Harry Potter fans.

Yet there was a time when the only place this engine could call home, was a south Wales scrapyard where it lay rotting among the hulks of a bygone era.

That is because the locomotive that entranced millions of Potter viewers and now sits proudly in Warner Brothers Studios, was once earmarked to be dismantled for the furnace.

As Florida’s toxic red tide stretches on, residents report health problems

The tide, a wave of microorganisms that choke sea life, hit the Gulf of Mexico last November and now spreads over about 130 miles of Florida’s southwest coast. Gov. Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency for seven counties, where waterways and coastlines are filled with putrid fish floating in brass-colored water.

The red tide also poses a health risk to people. The microorganisms emit brevetoxins, which can get blown into the air. When the toxins are breathed in, they constrict passages in the lungs, causing people to cough and have difficulty breathing.

Doctors in southwest Florida say they’ve seen an increase in patients complaining of breathing problems.

An Amber Alert was issued Saturday for two young brothers and their biological father missing since the boys’ mother and a male housemate were found fatally shot in the Phoenix home where police said the victims and boys lived.

The alert said 47-year-old Dimas Coronado may have fled to Mexico with the boys, but Sgt. Armando Carbajal, a police spokesman, said investigators had no firm indication of the whereabouts of Coronado or the boys.

Police say they want to talk to Coronado about the case but he hasn’t been charged.

Former series regular Kaitlyn Dever, who plays Eve Baxter, is now a recurring guest star. How frequently will she appear in the Fox revival?

Last Man Standing has already recast two of Mike and Vanessa Baxter’s three daughters (most recently casting Molly McCook as Mandy 2.0), and is not about to recast a third. Executive producer Kevin Abbott confirmed to TVLine (as part of our in-depth Fall Preview) that Dever, who is now attached as a series regular on the upcoming Netflix drama Unbelievable, will appear in at least two episodes of the Last Man revival this fall. She’ll make her first appearance in the Season 7 premiere (airing Friday, Sept. 28 at 8/7c on Fox; watch a promo here).
