Parents, students, and other community members packed a public hearing Monday night to support the decision of Pittsburgh Public Schools board members to oppose any law allowing teachers to carry guns in classrooms.

Board members introduced a resolution opposing any federal or state efforts to arm teachers in school following Trump’s response to recent mass shootings. Board Member Moira Kaleida, wrote the resolution which says the board will, “maintain existing prohibition of firearms at school and will not support any effort to arm educators and support staff.”

Mini casino expected to open at Westmoreland Mall | TribLIVE

A small-scale casino is expected to open at the site of the closing Bon-Ton store at Westmoreland Mall, the Tribune-Review has learned.

State Sen. Kim Ward, R-Hempfield, said Tuesday she was briefed by officials with Stadium Casino LLC, the Maryland-based company that in January purchased a $40.1 million license to open one of 10 mini casinos in Pennsylvania.

Mega Millions winning ticket sold in California – CNN

A winning Mega Millions lottery ticket was sold in San Jose, California, according to a tweet on the state lottery’s verified Twitter feed.
The winning ticket was sold at Ernie’s Liquors on South White Road, the tweet said. It’s not clear if there were any other winning tickets. The jackpot was up to a whopping $522 million.
The biggest-ever Mega Millions jackpot — $656 million — was won in March 2012. It was shared by winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.
The winning numbers were 1, 2, 4, 19, 29 and 20.

‘Roseanne’ spinoff ‘The Conners’ to premiere in October | Page Six

The late premiere stems from the abrupt cancellation of “Roseanne,” and the two weeks of subsequent negotiations that led to the order of a Barr-free spinoff, “The Conners.”

ABC will wait until mid-October to premiere its Tuesday night lineup, led by “Roseanne” spinoff “The Conners.”

The broadcaster revealed premiere dates for its new fall season Tuesday. The first of the network’s new episodes will debut Monday, Sept. 24, with the premieres of a new “Dancing With the Stars” and “The Good Doctor.” Long-running drama “Grey’s Anatomy” will enjoy a two-hour season premiere at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27.
