3 die in NM highway crash involving passenger bus headed to El Paso

Officials said four of the 24 people injured in the crash near Albuquerque are in critical condition.

BERNALILLO, N.M. — A crash involving a commercial passenger bus heading to El Paso and three other vehicles on a New Mexico highway early Sunday killed three people and injured 24 others, some critically, authorities said.

Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office officials said 35 people were on the bus operated by El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express.

Jerry Rosenbaum, the president of the company, said, “The bus left Denver on its way to El Paso, and I’m sure some of the passengers were getting off in El Paso.”

Some probably were planning to continue into Mexico, he said.

Rosenbaum said some of the passengers who weren’t injured already have been transported on other buses.
