Search and rescue suspended for three US Marines missing after aircraft ‘mishap’

Three US Marines who went missing in an aircraft “mishap” off Queensland’s coast yesterday are feared dead, with the Corps suspending search and rescue efforts and instead focussing on salvage.

Twenty-three of the 26 personnel who were on board the MV-22 Osprey when it went into the water at Shoalwater Bay about 4pm were rescued, with at least one person taken to the Rockhampton Base Hospital with a fractured leg.
