The man, identified as Raymond Ralph by the medical examiner’s office, was burned on 80 percent of his body, mostly from the waist down, city fire Chief John Brasile said. He died at 11:25 a.m. Monday and Brasile was notified later in the day, he said.

Medics airlifted the man to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood after he set himself on fire around 7:25 p.m. in a shed on Seventh Avenue. Flames swept through the shed and damaged the siding to a mobile home.
